A switch system including a plurality of pluggable modules, a plurality of cages housing the plurality of pluggable modules, and a host printed circuit board (PCB). The system is designed to improve airflow around the host PCB to facilitate cooling. The cages may be designed to have airflow openings on a bottom surface thereof (facing towards the host PCB). The pluggable modules may be designed to have a heat sink on an external lower surface (facing towards the host PCB), which may be in the form of external fins. The host PCB may be designed to have cut-outs in a front portion thereof. The cooperation of the, and the airflow openings, heat sinks, and cut-outs create improved airflow for cooling of the host PCB.

The present disclosure describes a network switch design that includes a vertical switch circuit board that is mounted parallel to the front panel of the network switch. The vertical circuit board supports switch chip(s) to process and forward packets and pluggable module connectors to receive pluggable optics modules that provide connections to other network switches. The pluggable module connectors are horizontally oriented to facilitate routing of electrical signal traces. The arrangement of the circuit board, switch chip(s) and pluggable module connectors achieves reduced lengths for the electrical signal traces that connect the switch chip(s) to the pluggable module connectors. The design improves cooling by providing separate airflow regions between the switch chip heatsink(s) and the optics modules.

The present disclosure describes a network switch design that includes a vertical switch circuit board that is mounted parallel to the front panel of the network switch. The vertical circuit board supports switch chip(s) to process and forward packets and optical module connectors to receive pluggable optics modules that provide connections to other network switches. The arrangement of the circuit board, switch chip(s) and optical module connectors achieves reduced lengths for the electrical signal traces that connect the switch chip(s) to the optical module connectors. In addition, the design improves cooling by providing separate airflow regions between the switch chip heatsink(s) and the optics modules. The vertical switch card assembly and its components can be made removable from the front panel for ease of servicing.

A pluggable optical module includes: a casing with an internal space; a latching pocket disposed on a side wall of the casing; and a latch plane on a surface of the latching pocket. The surface is a beveled surface, and the beveled surface delimiting the latch plane has an angle of between 3 to 15 degrees.

Embodiments of the present disclosure include pluggable optical transceiver modules comprising a first interface on a proximate end and eight (8) sockets arranged on a distal end. A first portion of the pluggable optical transceiver module including the proximate end is inserted into a port. A second portion, including the distal end extends outside the port. In one embodiment, an OSFP optical transceiver module include sockets for eight (8) SN or MDC connectors.

In one embodiment a device for tightening and loosening a securing device is provided. The device includes a housing, a shaft, and a clutch assembly. In one embodiment, the clutch assembly includes a clutch activation member, a first friction member coupled to the clutch activation member, and a second friction member coupled to the shaft. When the clutch activation member is in a first position, the clutch activation member engages the first friction member with the second friction member for transmission of torque from the first friction member to the second friction member. When the clutch activation member is in the second position, the clutch activation member disengages the first friction member from the second friction member to prevent transmission of the torque from the first friction member to the second friction member.

A cable harness includes a support frame configured to support a plurality of cables coupled to an electronic device. The cable harness also includes a tapered frame comprising a first end and a second end. The second end is smaller than the first end and the first end is coupled to the support frame. Embodiments described herein relate to a system. The system may include a base configured to be removably coupled to an electrical component. The base may include a first plurality of crossbar alignment features arranged in a first pattern. The system may also include a crossbar configured to be removably coupled to the base using a portion of the first plurality of crossbar alignment features. In general, embodiments relate to systems for latching electrical modules to one another. Specifically, embodiments provide for a latching assembly to mechanically aid an operative connection between electrical modules. Further, embodiments enable a user to physically latch electrical modules to one another and to retain the latching of the electrical modules.

An electronics module is provided. The electronics module includes a housing at least partially enclosing a first printed circuit board configured to couple the electronics module to a connector attached to a second printed circuit board. The electronics module includes a first heat sink disposed along a first surface of the housing and a second heat sink disposed along a second surface of the housing. One or more notches or apertures of the first printed circuit board are proximate to the connector thereby enabling an airflow through the second heat sink along the second surface of the housing to exhaust over a surface of the connector with an airflow through the first heat sink.

The apparatus also includes a first dual stacked octal small format pluggable (OSFP) module coupled to the PCB on a top surface of the PCB. The apparatus further includes a second dual stacked OSFP module coupled to the PCB on a bottom surface of the PCB. The apparatus includes a latching component configured to secure a network component within a chassis of a network device when the apparatus is in a first configuration. The latching component is also configured to allow removal of the network component from the chassis of the network device when the apparatus is in a second configuration. The apparatus also includes a handle component coupled to the latching component. The handle component is accessible from a first face of the network component. The handle component is oriented away from the first face. The handle component is configured to facilitate the removal of the network component from the chassis when the apparatus is in the first configuration. A busbar and connector assembly is provided. The busbar and connector assembly includes a printed circuit board having an attached connector arranged to couple to a first busbar and a second busbar coupled to the connector. An adapter for a communication transceiver is provided. The adapter includes a main body having a first end and opposed second end. The first end of the main body has an OSFP (octal small form factor pluggable) edge connector arranged for electrical and physical connection to an OSFP host connector in an OSFP host port. The main body has a QSFP (quad small form factor pluggable) host connector arranged to receive a QSFP edge connector of a QSFP transceiver through the second end of the main body so that the adapter adapts the QSFP transceiver to an OSFP host. A method of using a communication adapter is also provided.
