Some of pixels in a general image sensor for image capturing are designated as vision pixels used for vision recognition. Optical information obtained only from the vision pixels is used to perform vision recognition in the vision recognition mode. Capturing image data is generated based on optical information obtained from all the pixels in the image data in the image-shooting mode. A digital signal converter that converts optical information obtained only from vision pixels into a digital signal is separately provided in addition to a digital signal converter that converts optical information of all pixels in the image sensor into a digital signal.

Vision recognition apparatus and method

A method of operating an electronic device for image interpolation is provided. The method includes estimating a direction of pixels using a plurality of filters respectively corresponding to a plurality of angles, correcting the direction of the pixels using a direction of neighboring pixels, determining whether the direction estimation has an error according to a direction distribution of the neighboring pixels, and when the direction estimation is determined to have error, correcting the error in the direction estimation.

Method for directional adaptive image interpolation and an electronic device thereof

A method and apparatus for controlling a mobile terminal through use of user interaction are provided. The method includes operating in a vision recognition mode that generates a vision recognition image through use of a signal output from a second plurality of pixels designated as vision pixels from among a plurality of pixels of an image sensor included in the mobile terminal; determining whether a predetermined object in the vision recognition image corresponds to a person; determining a gesture of the predetermined object when the predetermined object corresponds to the person; and performing a control function of the mobile terminal corresponding to the gesture of the predetermined object.
