This application relates to a coating layer composition and a coating layer formed using the coating layer composition. The coating layer composition includes a heat-resistant binder, a hydroxy group-containing polyimide particle, a silane cross-linking agent, and a solvent. The hydroxy group-containing polyimide particle and the functional group-containing silane cross-linking agent form a core-shell structured organic particle in which a core portion is derived from the hydroxy group-containing polyimide particles and a shell portion that is derived from the functional group-containing silane cross-linking agent. The shell portion is on the surface of the core portion in the core-shell structured organic particle. The application also relates to a separator for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including the separator having a coating layer formed using the coating layer composition.

The present invention relates to a self-humidifying ion-exchange composite membrane including an aromatic hydrocarbon polymer ion-exchange membrane formed on the surface of a porous polymer support and a thin hydrophobic coating layer having a nanocracked morphology pattern on the surface of the ion-exchange membrane. The self-humidifying ion-exchange composite membrane of the present invention has good thermal/chemical stability, high mechanical strength, high ion-exchange capacity, and good long-term operational stability. Particularly, the self-humidifying ion-exchange composite membrane of the present invention is able to self-hydrate even under high-temperature and low-humidity conditions. Due to these advantages, it is expected that the self-humidifying ion-exchange composite membrane of the present invention will be commercialized as an electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell or a membrane for water treatment.

Self-humidifying ion-exchange composite membrane and method for fabricating the same

The present disclosure relates to a technique for manufacturing a humidifying membrane including a hydrophobic thin film-coating layer having a nano-sized crack morphology pattern on the surface of an aromatic hydrocarbon-based polymer ion exchange membrane and applying the membrane to a reverse electrodialysis process. The humidifying membrane including a hydrophobic thin film-coating layer having a nano-sized crack morphology pattern on the surface of an aromatic hydrocarbon-based polymer ion exchange membrane, manufactured according to the present disclosure, embodies a low bulk resistance of the ion exchange membrane and significantly improves ion selectivity, thereby overcoming the trade-off relationship between membrane resistance and ion selectivity, and thus may be commercially available as an anion and cation exchange membrane of a reverse electrodialysis device.

Humidifying membrane for reverse electrodialysis and method for manufacturing the same

Disclosed are a polymer ion exchange membrane having a self-hydration capability at a high temperature under low humidity, a method of preparing the polymer ion exchange membrane, and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell system including the polymer ion exchange membrane. The polymer electrolyte membrane includes a hydrocarbon-based proton conductive polymercoating layer, and has a nano-crack on the hydrophobic surface and thus may secure ion conductivity and self-hydration capability under low humidity and remarkably improve electrochemical performance of an electrolyte.

Polymer ion exchange membrane and method of preparing same

The present invention relates to the production of a hydroxyl polyimide-co-polyimide membrane, the fabrication of a thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) membrane by thermally treating the hydroxyl polyimide-co-polyimide membrane, and the application of the thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) membrane to membrane distillation. The thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) separation membrane has high liquid entry pressure, low thermal conductivity, high permeate flux, and good long-term stability, as well as excellent thermal and chemical properties. Due to these advantages, the copolymer separation membrane can be applied to membrane distillation processes.

Thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazoleco-imide) separation membrane for membrane distillation and fabrication method thereof

The present disclosure relates to a membrane for flue gas separation containing a crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) copolymer prepared simply by heat-treating a membrane prepared from an o-hydroxypolyimide copolymer having carboxylic acid groups such that thermal crosslinking and thermal rearrangement occur simultaneously or a membrane for flue gas separation containing a crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) copolymer having a benzoxazole group content of less than 80% in the polymer chain, prepared from transesterification crosslinking of an o-hydroxypolyimide copolymer having carboxylic acid groups and a diol-based compound followed by thermal rearrangement, and a method for preparing the same. In accordance with the present disclosure, a crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) copolymer membrane for flue gas separation can be prepared simply through heat treatment without requiring a complicated process such as chemical crosslinking, UV irradiation, etc. for forming a crosslinked structure and a membrane for flue gas separation prepared therefrom exhibits superior permeability and selectivity. Also, the method is applicable to commercial-scale production because the preparation process is simple.

Membranes for flue gas separation comprising crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) and preparation method thereof

The present disclosure relates to a crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) copolymer membrane prepared simply by heat-treating a membrane prepared from an o-hydroxypolyimide copolymer having carboxylic acid groups such that thermal crosslinking and thermal rearrangement occur simultaneously or a gas separation membrane containing a crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) copolymer having a benzoxazole group content of less than 80% in the polymer chain, prepared from transesterification crosslinking of an o-hydroxypolyimide copolymer having carboxylic acid groups and a diol-based compound followed by thermal rearrangement, and a method for preparing the same (a membrane for flue gas separation is excluded). In accordance with the present disclosure, a crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) copolymer membrane for gas separation can be prepared simply through heat treatment without requiring a complicated process such as chemical crosslinking, UV irradiation, etc. for forming a crosslinked structure and a gas separation membrane (a membrane for flue gas separation is excluded) prepared therefrom exhibits superior permeability and selectivity. Crosslinked, thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide), gas separation membranes comprising the same and preparation method thereof

Provided is a crosslinked thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) obtained through the transesterification crosslinking of an ortho-hydroxy polyimide copolymer and a diol compound, followed by thermal rearrangement, a gas separation membrane (excluding a membrane for flue gas separation), and a method for preparing the same. The crosslinked thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) according to the present invention allows less packing of polymer chains and has a structure with a larger space, and thus shows increased possibility of permeation and diffusion of small molecules therethrough. In addition, the gas separation membrane (with the proviso that a membrane for use in flue gas separation is excluded) including the crosslinked thermally rearranged poly(benzoxazole-co-imide) according to the present invention has excellent gas permeability and selectivity, and particularly shows gas separation quality in terms of carbon dioxide/methane separation corresponding to a level exceeding the so-called 2008 upper bound.

Disclosed herein are a polyimide-polybenzoxazole copolymer, a method for preparing thereof and a gas separation membrane comprising the same. More specifically, provided are a polyimide-polybenzoxazole copolymer simply prepared through thermal-rearrangement performed by thermally treating a polyimide-poly (hydroxyimide) copolymer as a precursor, a method for preparing the same, and a gas separation membrane comprising the same. The copolymer shows superior gas permeability and gas selectivity, thus being suitable for use in gas separation membranes in various forms such as films, fibers or hollow fibers. The gas separation membrane thus prepared can advantageously endure even harsh conditions such as long operation time acidic conditions and high humidity due to the rigid polymer backbone present in the copolymer.

Polyimide-co-polybenzoxazole copolymer, preparation method thereof, and gas separation membrane comprising the same

Disclosed herein are a method for preparing a benzoxazole-based polymer by thermal rearrangement, the benzoxazole-based polymer prepared by the method and a gas separation membrane comprising the polymer. More specifically, provided are a method for preparing a benzoxazole-based polymer by subjecting poly(hydroxyamide) as an intermediate to thermal treatment involving dehydration, the benzoxazole-based polymer obtained thereby and gas separation membrane comprising the polymer. The benzoxazole-based polymer of the present invention can be simply prepared by thermally rearrangement via thermal treatment at low temperatures, and thus exhibits superior mechanical and morphological properties and has well-connected microcavities. Due to showing excellent permeability and selectivity for various gases, the benzoxazole-based polymer is suited for application to gas separation membranes, in particular, gas separation membranes for small gases.

Preparation method of polybenzoxazoles by thermal rearrangement, polybenzoxazoles prepared thereby, and gas separation membrane comprising the same

Disclosed herein are polymer compounds and a method for preparing thereof. More specifically, provided are polymer compounds with well-connected, narrow size distribution free-volume element and a method for preparing the polymer compounds by thermal rearrangement for aromatic polyimides containing ortho-positioned functional groups in the solid state.
