A printing system includes an image forming apparatus and a host device. An image forming apparatus includes a printing part to perform a printing operation, a receiver to receive a parameter on a drive condition of the printing part from the host device, a storage part to store a parameter for each driver version, and a controller to update the stored parameter according to the received parameter. Accordingly, the quality of printing output can be improved by setting a parameter corresponding to a driver version of the host device and/or the satisfaction of and the convenience for a user can be improved by realizing a user desired/set color output.

A method and apparatus to store information on an amount of toner used. The method includes determining whether a customer replaceable unit monitor (CRUM) memory to store information on an amount of used toner is included in a cartridge of an image forming device; storing the information on the amount of used toner in a non-volatile memory of the image forming device when the CRUM memory is not included in the cartridge of the image forming device; and storing the information on the amount of used toner in the CRUM memory when the CRUM memory is included in the cartridge.

An image forming apparatus and a developer level calculating method of the same. The image forming apparatus includes a developing unit which includes a developing roller to provide the developer onto a photosensitive body, a developing sensor to sense a developer level, and a supplying roller to supply the developer to the developing roller; a developer bottle which supplies the developer to the developing unit; and a controller which calculates a number of first printing dots of the developing unit, converts the amount of the developer supplied from the developer bottle sensed by the developer sensor into a number of second printing dots, calculates a number of third printing dots on the basis of the number of the first printing dots and the second printing dots, and calculates total developer level of the developer bottle on the basis of the number of the third printing dots.
