A gate driving circuit includes a first shift register and a second shift register for driving odd gate lines. The first shift register includes a first plurality of cascade-connected stages that sequentially output a plurality of first gate signals. A first stage of the first shift register receives a first vertical start signal. The second shift register includes a second plurality of cascade-connected stages to sequentially output a plurality of second gate signals. The first stage of the second shift register receives an output signal of the first stage of the first shift register as its vertical start signal. A data charging rate may be improved by ensuring the timing margin of each gate signal, so that the driving reliability of the gate driving circuit may be improved.

An electronic device including a display device, and a driving method thereof, in which the display device includes a central processing unit, a display device, and a feedback unit. The central processing unit provides image signals and input control signals, and the display device displays an image based on the image signals and the input control signals. The feedback unit is connected between the central processing unit and the display device and transmits a signal, including information on whether static electricity is applied to the display device, to the central processing unit. The central processing unit initializes a driving condition when the static electricity is applied to the display device and a display operation error occurs.

In a display device, a first frame of input image signals is received by a signal controller, stored in a memory, and applied to rows of pixels while a gate driver scans a gate-on voltage to a gate line in a first mode to select a row of pixels, one row at a time. When a gate driver controller detects that a second frame of image signals is being received by the signal controller, the gate driver controller halts the operation of the gate driver until the second frame of input image signals has all been received by the signal controller and until a scan start signal is detected by the gate driver controller.

The comparing part compares a photo sensing voltage with a reference voltage in each of a plurality of sensing periods and generating a photo sensing signal. The summing part sums the photo sensing signal during the sensing periods and generates a plurality of summation signals. The mode selecting part controls an application of the summation signals based on a mode selection. Then, the inverting part inverts the summation signals based on the control of the mode selecting part and generates a plurality of inversion signals. The decoding part decodes the summation signals or the inversion signals and generates a decoding signal. Therefore, light pollution and power consumption may be decreased, and manufacturing costs may be decreased.

A driving apparatus for a display device and display device having the driving apparatus. The display device has a plurality of pixels each having a switching element. The driving apparatus includes a gate line connected to the switching element, a gate driver to apply a gate signal having first to third voltages to the gate line, a first voltage generator to generate the first and third voltages, and a second voltage generator to generate the second voltage. The first and second voltages turn on the switching element, and the third voltage turns off the switching element. The second voltage is less than the first voltage. Thus, since the gate driver includes the second voltage generator to generate the second voltage and a plurality of transistors, and generates a gate output having a step shape, a kickback voltage is reduced and flicker is prevented.

The electronic device including the display device includes a central processing unit, a display device, and a feedback unit. The central processing unit provides image signals and input control signals. The display device displays an image based on the image signals and the input control signals. The feedback unit is connected between the central processing unit and the display device and transmits a signal including information on whether static electricity is applied to the display device to the central processing unit. Electronic device including display device, and driving method thereof

A dual display device includes a display panel having a first surface and an opposing second surface, and including a plurality of first pixels displaying an image on the first surface and a plurality of second pixels displaying an image on the second surface, a gate driver supplying gate signals to the first and second pixels, a signal controller including first and second receivers receiving input image signals and generating first and second output image signals based on the input image signals, and a data driver analog-converting the first and second output image signals to generate first and second data voltages, respectively, and supplying the first and second data voltages to the first and second pixels, respectively. By using two different interfaces, memories can be reduced by driving transmissive pixels and reflective pixels independently, and different normal images can be displayed on both surfaces of the display panel. When the same image is displayed on both surfaces, only one interface is selectively driven to thereby reduce power consumption.

Dual display device

A display apparatus includes first and second display panels, a driver chip and a first flexible printed circuit. The first display panel displays a first image in response to first driving signals. The second display panel displays a second image in response to second driving signals. The driver chip is disposed between the first and second display panels, and the driver chip provides the first and second driving signals to the first and second display panels. The first flexible printed circuit is disposed between the first and second display panels, and the first flexible printed circuit applies the second driving signal generated from the driver chip to the second display panel. Therefore, an electrical resistance is reduced, so that a signal delay is prevented to enhance display qualities.
