An organic light emitting diode display includes a panel assembly for displaying an image and a first surface stress enhancing member arranged on a rear surface of the panel assembly. In one embodiment, the organic light emitting diode display includes a second surface stress enhancing member arranged on a front surface of the panel assembly. In anther embodiment, the organic light emitting diode display includes a lower bezel arranged on a rear surface of the first surface stress enhancing member and a shock absorption tape arranged between the first surface stress enhancing member and the lower bezel. The structure of the organic light emitting diode display efficiently prevents damages caused by an external impact.

In an organic light emitting display and its driving method, a pixel portion includes a plurality of pixels which express images corresponding to a scan signal, an emission control signal, and a data signal. A scan driver transfers the scan signal and the emission control signal to the pixel portion. A data driver generates and transfers a plurality of data signals to the pixel portion using video data. A frame memory stores and transfers the video data in frame periods to the data driver. A luminance controller determines a pulse of the emission control signal using frame data, which is a sum of video data stored in the frame memory. A power supply unit supplies voltages of first and second power sources to the pixel portion. The luminance controller determines the number and widths of pulses in the emission control signal corresponding to a sum of the video data.

Organic light emitting display and its driving method

A display driven by a data signal and a light emission signal may be controlled by a control system including a first through fourth controller. The first controller may select a gamma value in accordance with ambient illumination and output a corresponding gamma compensation signal to control a gradation voltage of input image data. The second controller may compare the ambient illumination with a reference value, generate a selection signal in response thereto, and provide changed image data obtained by changing input image data in accordance with the selection signal as the data signal. The third controller may apply a scaling factor to the input image data generated from extracted features related to the input image data and a scale ratio obtained from the extracted features, and output scaled image data as the data signal. The fourth controller may control a pulse width of the emission control signal.

Organic light emitting display, controller therefor and associated methods

Disclosed are an organic electro luminescence display and a driving method of the same. The present invention provides an organic electro luminescence display including a pixel unit for displaying an image to correspond to a scan signal, a light emission control signal and a data line. The image is composed of a plurality of frames. The organic electro luminescence display of the present invention includes a scan driver for supplying the scan signal and the light emission control signal to the pixel unit, a data driver for generating a data signal with a video data to supply the generated data signal to the pixel unit, a control unit for controlling a pulse width of the light emission control signal using a frame data which is the sum of the video data inputted to one frame and controlling one frame time according to the size of the frame data, and a power supply unit for supplying a first power and a second power to the pixel unit.

Organic electro luminescence display and driving method of the same

An organic electro luminescence display and driving method uses an image determination unit to generate image determination signals indicative of whether images generated in response to data signals are moving images still images, selects a gamma value corresponding to the brightness of the ambient light sensed, applies gamma correction signals corresponding to selected gamma values to control grey level voltages of the data signals, generates a selection signal based on a comparison of a previously set reference value with the photo sensor signal, and generates R',G&#x2032;,B&#x2032; data to vary an input image RGB data to correspond to the selection signal, varies a change range of the changing R&#x2032;,G&#x2032;,B&#x2032; data to correspond to the image determination signal, and supplies the varied change range of the changing data (R&#x2032;,G&#x2032;,B&#x2032; data) to the data driver.

Organic electro luminescence display and driving method thereof

An organic electro-luminescent display and a making method of the same. The organic electro-luminescent display according to the present invention includes a luminance control unit including a data sum-up unit to generate a frame data; a look-up table for storing an information corresponding to the light emission control signal to correspond to the frame data; an operator unit to generate a look-up table by using a value at the beginning step of luminance reduction, a value at the final step of luminance reduction, a pulse width of the light emission control signal at the beginning step of luminance reduction, and a pulse width of the light emission control signal at the final step of luminance reduction; and a luminance control signal driver for outputting a luminance control signal using the information corresponding to the light emission control signal stored in the look-up table.

Organic electro-luminescent display and method of making the same

A double-sided organic electroluminescent display is constructed with an optical shutter. The organic electroluminescent display which includes an image displaying part comprising a plurality of pixels to display an image corresponding to a data signal and a selection signal, an optical shutter provided on the image displaying part to transmit or block light in response to a control signal, and a driver circuit to supply the data and selection signals to the plurality of pixels and the control signal to the optical shutter, respectively is excellent in visual recognition.
