The object detection method for detecting an object, the method comprising the steps of: extracting line segments from an image in which a detection target is displayed, by an object detection system, generating merged line segments on the basis of directionality of each of the extracted line segments, by the object detection system, specifying candidate outer lines corresponding to outer lines of the object on the basis of a line segment set including the generated merged line segments, by the object detection system; and specifying the candidate outer lines as the outer lines of the object on the basis of whether or not the specified candidate outer lines correspond to appearance attributes of the object, by the object detection system.

An object recognition method performed by an object recognition system includes: setting a first binarization area in a portion of a binarization target area of an image, and a first coefficient calculation area including the first binarization area and having an area wider than the first binarization area by a predetermined ratio; determining a first binarization coefficient on the basis of pixel values included in the first coefficient calculation area; performing binarization on the first binarization area through the determined first binarization coefficient; setting a second binarization area in a portion other than the first binarization area, and a second coefficient calculation area including the second binarization area and having an area wider than the second binarization area; determining a second binarization coefficient on the basis of pixel values included in the second coefficient calculation area; and performing binarization on the second binarization area through the determined second binarization coefficient.

System and method for object recognition using local binarization

Method and system for adaptive image compression using block characteristics are provided. For adaptive image compression, blocks in an image are quantized and compressed using a quantization table that was used in quantization of the blocks. An image compression system checks a block-characteristics quantization table corresponding to a specific block in the image to be compressed in order to quantize the specific block, and performs calculation using a value of a first element of the quantization table corresponding to a specific element of the specific block and a value of a second element of the checked block-characteristics quantization table corresponding to the specific element in order to quantize the specific element.

Method and system for image compression using image block characteristics

An image processing system and a method thereof is disclosed. A palette including an N number of index pixel values of a processing target image and corresponding index values is created. N is an integer equal to or smaller than 2. An image indexing process is performed on each processing target pixel. When a pixel value of the processing target pixel is a pixel value of one of the N number of index pixel values, a pixel data on a converted image corresponding to the processing target pixel is set as an index value on the palette corresponding to the pixel value of the processing target pixel. Otherwise, the pixel data on the converted image corresponding to the processing target pixel is set as an exceptional value, and the pixel value of the processing target pixel is stored in an exception buffer.

The adaptive image compression method includes a step of determining, at an adaptive image compression system, characteristics of an image that is to be compressed, a step of determining, at the adaptive image compression system, a quantization scale factor based on the characteristics of the image that is to be compressed, a step of generating an adaptive quantization table corresponding to the image that is to be compressed based on the determined quantization scale factor, and a step of encoding the image that is to be compressed using the generated adaptive quantization table.
