A touch input device capable of detecting a touch position and touch pressure may be provided that includes: a display panel; a touch sensor including a touch electrode which is used to detect the touch position; and a pressure sensor including a pressure electrode which is used to detect the touch pressure. A harmonic frequency and a frequency of a horizontal synchronization signal, which is used to drive the display panel, do not exist within a first gap from a touch pressure sensing frequency which is used to drive the pressure sensor. The first gap may be 5 kHz.

A smartphone may include a first cover layer and an LCD panel. A backlight unit may be located under the LCD panel. A touch sensor may sense touch in a capacitive manner. The backlight unit may include a pressure sensor and a spacer layer. The pressure sensor includes a plurality of electrodes formed in a single layer attached on the second cover layer and spaced apart from the reflective sheet. A driving signal is applied to the touch sensor and a touch position is detected by a sensing signal. A magnitude of a touch pressure is detected based on a change amount of capacitance which is output from the pressure sensor and which is changed according to a distance between the pressure sensor and an electrode located within the LCD panel. The pressure sensor is attached on the second cover layer as an integral sheet including insulation layers.

A smartphone may include a first cover layer and an LCD panel located under the first cover layer. The smartphone may include a backlight unit which may be located under the LCD panel. The smartphone may include a touch sensor which may sense touch in a capacitive manner. The backlight unit may include a pressure sensor and a spacer layer. The pressure sensor may include one or more electrodes formed in a single layer attached on the second cover layer and spaced apart from the reflective sheet. A smartphone may be provided that includes: a cover layer; an LCD panel which is located under the cover layer and includes a liquid crystal layer, and a first glass layer and a second glass layer between which the liquid crystal layer is placed, wherein at least a portion of a touch sensor which senses touch in a capacitive manner is located between the first glass layer and the second glass layer; and a backlight unit which is located under the LCD panel and includes an optical film, a light source, a reflective sheet and a cover. The backlight unit further includes a pressure sensor attached on the cover between the reflective sheet and the cover.
