A plasma display panel that includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other, a plurality of address electrodes disposed on the first substrate, a plurality of display electrodes disposed on one side of the second substrate facing the first substrate in a direction crossing the address electrodes, and red, green, and blue phosphor layers disposed in a discharge space between the first and second substrates. The green phosphor layer includes a green phosphor and an inorganic pigment absorbing a wavelength of about 580 nm to about 640 nm. The plasma display panel includes a green phosphor layer having a reduced decay time and good color purity characteristics, as well as excellent luminance, discharge, and life-span characteristics.

Plasma display panel

A plasma display panel (PDP) having improved discharge efficiency, low discharge firing voltage, and high reliability. A plasma display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a first substrate and a second substrate spaced apart and facing each other. A plurality of address electrodes are between the first and second substrates. A plurality of barrier ribs are between the first and second substrates and define a plurality of discharge cells and a non-discharge region located between adjacent ones of the discharge cells. A carbon-based material is in the non-discharge region. A phosphor layer is in the plurality of discharge cells. A plurality of display electrodes are between the first and second substrates and extend in a direction crossing the address electrodes.

Provided are a green phosphor for a plasma display panel (PDP) represented by Formula 1 and a PDP including a phosphor layer formed of the same:(YGd)Al(BO):Tb&#x2003;&#x2003;Formula 1where 0&#x2266;x&#x3c;1, 0&#x3c;y&#x3c;1 and 0&#x3c;x+y&#x3c;1. The luminance saturation characteristic of a green phosphor layer can be improved using the green phosphor for a PDP according to the present embodiments, and the green phosphor can also be mixed with conventionally used green phosphors. Image quality can be improved according to a mixing rate of the green phosphor and conventionally used green phosphors since color reproduction range widens and luminance does not decrease compared to using the conventional green phosphors.

Provided is a display apparatus that includes a panel assembly having a front panel and a rear panel coupled to the front panel and a plurality of discharge electrodes to which power is applied; a chassis base assembly that is combined with the panel assembly and on which a driving circuit unit is formed; a plurality of signal transmitting units that electrically connect the discharge electrodes and the driving circuit unit; and a silicon protection member which is formed on at least an end of each of the signal transmitting units to surround connection portions between the signal transmitting units and the discharge electrodes of the driving circuit unit, and comprises a silicon layer that seals the connection portions from the outside and an electromagnetic wave shielding material that is mixed in the silicon layer to block electromagnetic waves generated by the discharge electrodes or the driving circuit unit and has an electromagnetic wave shielding range from 1 to 200 dB. The display apparatus can prevent yellowing, and at the same time, can block electromagnetic waves.

A PDP includes first and second substrates, a plurality of electrodes between the first and second substrates, a plurality of barrier ribs between the first and second substrates to define discharge cells, at least one dielectric layer on the electrodes, at least one photoluminescent layer in each discharge cell, a discharge gas in the discharge cells, and a protective layer on the dielectric layer, the protective layer including magnesium oxide and a light-scattering material having a general formula MO, where M includes one or more of zinc and/or titanium and 1&#x2266;x&#x2266;2, the light-scattering material having a particle size of about 100 nm to about 900 nm and being present in the protective layer in an amount of about 1% to about 20% by weight of a total weight of the dielectric layer.

Plasma display panel and method of manufacturing thereof

Provided is a plasma display panel that includes a plurality of substrates disposed facing each other, a plurality of discharge electrodes disposed within the substrates and a predetermined discharge voltage is applied to the discharge electrodes, barrier ribs which are disposed between the substrates and define discharge cells, and a plurality of phosphor layers coated in the discharge cells to emit a plurality of colors for color images, wherein a raw material for forming at least one phosphor layer of the phosphor layers is mixed in the barrier ribs. The plasma display panel can increase luminous efficiency of discharge cells that have low luminous efficiency and can increase color temperature at full white.

The present invention relates to a plasma display panel (PDP) that includes a first substrate, an address electrode formed on the first substrate, a dielectric layer formed on the first substrate and covering the address electrode, a barrier rib formed on the dielectric layer, a second substrate, a display electrode formed on the second substrate, a dielectric layer formed on the second substrate and covering the display electrode, and a protection layer formed on the dielectric layer of the second substrate. Discharge cells are defined by barrier ribs, and a phosphor layer is formed in the discharge cells. Barrier ribs contains inorganic adsorbent. When a PDP is operated for a long time, residual carbon or water is generated inside discharge cells, and thereby contaminates a discharge gas contained in the discharge cells. The inorganic adsorbent included in the barrier ribs absorb the residual carbon or water improving efficiency and lifespan of the PDP.

A red phosphor for a plasma display panel (PDP) including (Y,Gd)Al(BO):Eu, a paste composition including the same and a plasma display panel including a phosphor layer made out of the red phosphor. The red phosphor for a plasma display panel can have reduced decay time by using (Y,Gd)Al(BO):Eualone or as a main constituent in a combination with (Y,Gd)BO:Eu. In addition, in a plasma display panel (PDP) including a phosphor layer made out of the red phosphor, by reducing the decay time of the PDP, coloring properties thereof can be improved and luminance saturation thereof at a high gradation degree occurring when Y(V,P)O:Euis used to improve color coordinates can be prevented.
