An apparatus and a method for controlling transmission and reception control in a wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus includes at least one voltage regulator, a power source consumer, at least one capacitor, and a controller. The at least one voltage regulator provides a power source that is a regulated voltage. The power source consumer processes a Radio Frequency (RF) signal using the power source that is the regulated voltage. The at least one capacitor is connected to an output port of the at least one voltage regulator and a power source input port of the power source consumer. The controller turns off the at least one voltage regulator during a deactivation period of the communication apparatus and turns on the at least one voltage regulator during an activation period of the communication apparatus.

Apparatus and method for controlling transmission and reception operations in wireless communication system

An apparatus for amplifying power is provided. The apparatus includes a supply modulator for generating a supply voltage based on an amplitude component of a transmission signal, and a power amplify module for amplifying power of the transmission signal using the supply voltage, wherein the power amplify module includes a first power amplifier and a second power amplifier, and when an output power of the transmission signal is greater than a reference power, the first power amplifier amplifies the power of the transmission signal using the supply voltage, and when the output power of the transmission signal is equal to or less than the reference power, the second power amplifier amplifies the power of the transmission signal using the supply voltage.

Apparatus and method for expanding operation region of power amplifier

An apparatus of a hybrid power modulator using interleaving switching is provided. The apparatus includes a linear switching unit for generating an output signal by comparing an envelope input signal and a feedback signal, an interleaving signal generator for generating an interleaving switching signal arranged not to supply the signal to input stages of P-type Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (MOS) Field Effect Transistors (FETs) and N-type MOS FETs of power cells at the same time by comparing the output signal and a reference signal, and a switching amplifying unit for determining a level of the switching signal using the interleaving switching signal. Hence, the hybrid power modulator using the interleaving switching method in the envelope signal of the wide bandwidth maintains high efficiency and high linearity. In addition, the buck converter can use the single inductor by preventing the simultaneous on/off of the power cells.

Apparatus and method for interleaving switching in power amplifier

A multiple frequency band antenna is provided that includes a radiating unit having a slot formed on a first surface of the substrate that is closed at one end and open at the other end, and a feed unit formed on a second surface of the substrate to pass through an area on the second surface that corresponds with the same area on first surface between the center and the closed side of the slot. The feeding unit comprises at least one switch which adjusts the size of an area for feeding power to the antenna. The radiating unit is resonated in a plurality of frequency bands when the switch is turned off, and the radiating unit is resonated in a single frequency band which is different from the plurality of frequency bands when the switch is turned on. Consequently, an antenna is implemented for use in multiple frequency bands.

An apparatus and a method for expanding an operation region in an envelope tracking power amplifier are provided. The apparatus for amplifying power of a transmission signal includes an amplitude component determination unit, a supply modulator, and a power amplify module. The amplitude component determination unit determines an amplitude component of a transmission signal. The supply modulator generates a supply voltage to be provided to the power amplify module depending on the amplitude component of the transmission signal determined by the amplitude component determination unit. The power amplify module amplifies power of the transmission signal depending on the supply voltage generated by the supply modulator.

A miniaturized multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna includes a first antenna element disposed in a first side of a substrate in a round form; a second antenna element in a round form symmetrically with the first antenna element and disposed in the first side of the substrate; and a ground disposed in a second side of the substrate. The first antenna element and the second antenna element are disposed such that electro magnetic waves resonating in the first antenna element and the second antenna element are orthogonally polarized. Accordingly, the antenna size can be reduced. The miniaturized antenna facilitates the component design in the small terminal.

Miniaturized multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna

A radio frequency (RF) receiver and a method of receiving an RF signal are provided. The RF receiver includes a low-noise amplifying unit which amplifies a received signal while restricting out-of-band interference of the received signal, a sampling unit which performs sampling to convert the amplified signal to a discrete time domain signal, a frequency translation unit which down-converts the discrete time domain signal into a frequency band that enables the discrete time domain signal to be converted into a digital signal and restricts interference from a frequency within an aliasing band according to a sampling frequency, an anti-aliasing filtering unit which prevents aliasing from the down-converted signal, a clock unit which provides the sampling unit, the frequency translation unit, and the anti-aliasing filtering unit with sampling frequencies, and an analog-digital-converter which converts the converted signal into the digital signal.

An improved and more compact structure of a built-in antenna for handheld terminals, improving radiation pattern and efficiency. Provided is a planar inverted-F antenna having a radiation part having an inductive radiation portion and a parasitic radiation portion which are spaced in a certain distance apart from a ground surface, a power-supply part horizontally spaced apart from the ground surface and for directly supplying currents to the connected inductive radiation portion, and connection parts for connecting the radiation portions to the ground. The planar inverted-F antenna has an inductive antenna portion and a parasitic antenna portion, thereby reducing its volume compared to the conventional inverted-F antenna. Complicated manufacturing and processing procedures are simplified by connecting the power-supplying part and a PCB.

Dual-band planar inverted-F antenna

A concurrent mode antenna system includes an antenna which generates a plurality of operating frequencies that are available at a same time, the antenna comprising a plurality of feed points; and a signal processing circuit which is connected to the feed points and processes radio signals transmitted and received by the antenna. Accordingly, the antenna system can not only provide various wireless services corresponding to the respective operating frequency bands on the single antenna but also miniaturize the antenna system. Furthermore, the antenna system can achieve the insertion loss prevention, the simplified structure, and the lower cost.

An antenna applied to a slide type mobile communication terminal includes a first board mounted in a first body; a second board mounted in a second body; a radiating element mounted to the second body; and a first contact formed to connect to the second board at one end and contact with the first board at the other end when the first body slides. Accordingly, an antenna with directionality can be realized for applications to short range communication systems.

An impedance matching system, a network analyzer having the same, and an impedance matching method thereof are disclosed. The system includes a signal extractor to extract an output signal and an input signal having at least a portion of an electric current outputted through a load and at least a portion of an electric current inputted through the load, respectively, a processor to process the output signal and the input signal extracted from the signal extractor, a comparator to compare a phase and an amplitude of the output signal with a phase and an amplitude of the input signal, respectively, a coefficient calculator to calculate a reflection coefficient using the comparative result provided from the comparator, and a circuit controller to generate a signal for controlling a matching circuit, which matches the phase and the amplitude of the output signal with the phase and the amplitude of the input signal, respectively, so as to ensure the reflection coefficient to have a predetermined value.

A low noise amplifier is provided. The low noise amplifier includes: a low noise amplifying unit amplifying an input signal; a harmonic and noise generating unit disposed in an input terminal of the low noise amplifying unit, for generating a compensating signal for compensating for an intermodulation distortion signal and a thermal noise signal of the input signal to the low noise amplifying unit; and a load unit outputting the amplified input signal generated by the low noise amplifying unit.
