In electronic displays, sending image data across a pixel data bus to the source latches consumes energy, particularly as the number of columns of pixels of the electronic display increases. To reduce the amount of energy consumed by the pixel data bus, slices of the pixel data bus may be gated to correspond to which source latches are being loaded. For instance, a first set of source latches corresponding to a first slice of the pixel data bus may be loaded with data while downstream slices of the pixel data bus may be gated to save energy. To reduce the peak energy consumed by the pixel data bus, the pixel data bus may be divided into two parts that are loaded from opposite sides. Thus, the total number of gated slices may remain stable throughout the loading process.

Display data bus power reduction via data bus gating

Electronic devices, displays, and methods are provided for operating an electronic display in coexistence with sensors that could be adversely impacted by the operation of the electronic display. An electronic device may include an electronic display and a sensor. The electronic display may display image content by light emission during an emission period and periodically enter a quiet period in which the light emission of the electronic display is turned off. The sensor may perform sensing operations during the quiet period without interference from the operation of the electronic display.

In an embodiment, an electronic display may include an electronic display panel that includes a plurality of display pixels configured to emit light; a first pre-charge voltage source; and a second pre-charge voltage source; and a microdriver that may include: a capacitor coupled at a first terminal to the first pre-charge voltage source and coupled at a second terminal to the second pre-charge voltage source; and a buffer. The buffer may include a positive input terminal coupled to the first pre-charge voltage source and the capacitor; an output terminal coupled to a plurality of driving circuits; and a negative input terminal coupled to the output terminal.

Systems and methods for IR-independent pre-charge and inverter- based IR reduction

An electronic device uses a leader synchronize signal generator to synchronize clock signal generators used by multiple components in the electronic device to a common time-base. A processor core complex of the electronic device sends per-frame configuration to a timing controller for frames to be displayed on an electronic display before a corresponding frame begins.

To reduce image artifacts and non-uniformity associated with a display pixel of an electronic display, processing circuity may adjust a luminance value corresponding to a display pixel according to a per-pixel gain mask, a per-pixel anode mask, or both. To further correct for the non-uniformity, the processing circuitry may convert the luminance value to a digital code based on a curve associated with an anode on which the display pixel is located.

Display pixel non-uniformity compensation

To reduce image artifacts induced by temperature variations associated with display pixels of an electronic display, processing circuitry may process temperature sensing data to obtain an average temperature and a temperature distribution of the electronic display. Based on the processed temperature data, the processing circuit may adjust a reference voltage applied to the display pixels to compensate for the average temperate. To further correct for the image artifacts, the processing circuitry may transform image data to luminance domain. Based on the processed temperature data, the processing may adjust luminance vales of the image data to compensate for the temperature distribution.
