The present invention relates to Walsh Code Allocation (WCA) field in the Packet Data Control Channel. One of the embodiments of the WCA field is use of the WCA field as Last Walsh Code Index (LWCI) field in the message format of the PDCCH. The LWCI field indicates the corresponding last code index or the corresponding number of Walsh codes in a Walsh Code Index (WCI) Table/List/Set. In alternative embodiments, the WCA indicates a general set of Walsh codes or a specific set of Walsh codes in the WCI table. The WCA fields may or may not be used with one of power ranking and sequential decoding, but is preferable used. The WCA field has various advantages including but not limited to efficient use of system resources.

Method of transferring and/or receiving data in communication system and apparatus thereof

The data transmission rate on the reverse link in a mobile communications system is controlled by determining an interference level at a base station due to signals from all mobile stations served by the base station, and determining a transmission energy level required for each mobile station. The interference level is compared with the transmission energy level to obtain a comparison result for each mobile station, and each mobile adjusts its data transmission rate based upon the comparison result, which is sent via a common channel on a forward link to each mobile station in a dedicated manner. Thereafter, packet data is transmitted on the reverse link in accordance with the adjusting so that data throughput can be maximized.

Method for transferring and/or receiving data in communication system and apparatus thereof

Disclosed are a forward multiple scrambling code generating method and apparatus in a communication system. Each base station uses primary scrambling codes and an associated one of secondary scrambling code sets, each consisting of a plurality of secondary scrambling codes. When an n-th one of the primary scrambling codes is to be generated, an initial value of the scrambling code generator is set with a binary value of 'n,' so that a desired primary scrambling code is generated using the initial value. When an n-th one of the secondary scrambling codes in an m-th one of the secondary scrambling code sets is to be generated, an initial value of the scrambling code generator is set with a value obtained by shifting the n-th primary scrambling code by m times, thereby generating a desired secondary scrambling code. Since the primary and secondary scrambling codes are simultaneously generated using a single code generator, the manufacturing costs and load are reduced, and the size and power consumption of user elements are reduced. It is also possible to reduce the number of calculations required to set the initial values required for the generation of scrambling codes.

Disclosed is a method of transmitting data in a communication system. A receiving part determines an optimum data transmission rate in accordance with the change of the channel environment of the receiving part, and provides the determined data transmission rate to a transmitting part. The transmitting part processes the data to be transmitted according to the transmitted optimum data transmission rate, and transmits the processed data to the receiving part. The transmitting part applies a different data coding rate or modulation type to the data to be transmitted in accordance with the determined data transmission rate. Since the optimum data transmission rate is determined in accordance with the change of the channel environment of the receiving part, an improved data throughput and re-transmission probability can be obtained with a reduced delay. Also, the insufficiency of memory capacity in the receiving part can be solved.
