An electrical enclosure for use in poured concrete construction having a peripheral wall with opposed longitudinally extending walls longer than opposed laterally extending walls and at least one physical support located substantially midpoint along the opposed longitudinally extended walls to resist deflection of the opposed longitudinal walls caused by the hydraulic pressure of concrete poured around the enclosure. The physical support can be a crossbar extending across the opening of the electrical enclosure with the ends of the crossbar fixed to the longitudinally extending walls. The physical support can also be fastening sleeves extending along at least a portion of the width of the longitudinal walls for receiving elongated fasteners which extend into the concrete form thereby resisting deflection of the opposed longitudinally extending walls.

Deflection resistant electrical enclosure

A coupling device formed of two identical sides is disclosed. Each of the two sides have a snap fitting mechanism which engage each other to releasably secure the sides together thereby forming the coupling device. The coupling device as formed has a main body communicating with at least two openings. Each opening is sized to engage an end of a corresponding conduit. Generally, the conduits are corrugated such that the openings engage one corrugation to form the friction fit. The openings may be conically shaped with pre-scored cut lines that can be cut at different diameters to engage conduits of different diameters. The openings of the coupling device have pre-score cut lines that may be cut in order to create the friction fit with corrugated conduits having different diameters.

Device and method for coupling a conduit

An axially tensioned pipe joint for joining two pipes is disclosed. The pipe joint comprises a first PVC pipe having an outer surface. The pipe joint also comprises a second PVC pipe having a bell end which fits onto the spigot end. The bell end has a plurality of angularly-spaced-apart holes extending radially through the bell end. A set of radial fasteners can be inserted into the holes so as to engage the outer surface of the spigot end to prevent relative axial movement of the first pipe with respect to the second pipe. The radial fasteners have a surface containing a hard material which is harder than the material of the second pipe and roughen the holes during insertion thereby creating a friction fit resisting removal of the radial fasteners. The pipe joint can be used for horizontal direction drilling.

Multiple unit fitting

A backwater valve (for preventing the flow of liquid in a reverse direction when water backs up in the valve) has a gate which sealingly engages the input opening to the valve chamber so as to prevent the flow of water out of or into the input opening. The gate is angularly moveable about a pivot point between a lower, closed position in which the input opening is closed by the gate and an upper, open position in which the input opening is open. Linked to the gate, but positioned angularly away from the gate, is a float. The float and the gate are linked such that gravity normally maintains the float in a lower position and the gate in the upper, open position but, when liquid backs up into the value, the float will float to an upper position thereby moving the gate into the lower, closed position thereby closing the input opening and preventing liquid from flowing out of the valve through the input opening.
