Provided is a method for offloading data traffic by a Mobility Management Entity (MME) in a wireless communication system. The method includes determining a Packet Data Network (PDN) to connect to for providing a service requested by a User Equipment (UE), upon receiving a connection request message requesting connection between the UE and the PDN from the UE, selecting a gateway disposed closest to a Radio Access Network (RAN), sending a permit message permitting a request for connection between the UE and the PDN to the UE, and setting an Evolved Packet Service (EPS) bearer for transmission and reception of data traffic related to a service requested by the UE between the UE and the gateway.

Method and apparatus for offloading data traffic in a wireless communication system

The present invention relates to a wireless network, and more particularly, a method (*'and system'?*) which a mobile station discovers a neighbor network in an Internet protocol based wireless network, a network management server for enabling the method, and a method of operating the network management server. A network management server of a wireless network system, the server including: a neighborhood (NH) database maintaining configuration information with respect to at least one neighbor network; a communication interface receiving a request message for capability/configuration information of the neighbor network from a mobile station which is connected via a predetermined access point or a base station; and a database management unit extracting the capability/configuration information of the neighbor network which is included in the request message by referring to the neighborhood database, and controlling a reply message including the capability/configuration information to be transmitted to the mobile station via the communication interface.

Method for discovering neighbor networks in mobile station and network system for enabling the method

A fast handover method optimized for IEEE 802.11 networks. In a wireless local area system including a mobile terminal and at least two wireless access points (APs) that communicate with the mobile terminal over a unique radio channel, the fast handover method includes receiving a beacon frame signal from the serving AP and the neighbor APs of the mobile terminal; generating a first signal to determine a state of each of the neighbor APs based on the beacon frame signal received from each of the neighbor APs; comparing the first signal with predefined thresholds, classifying the neighbor APs into a detected AP, a candidate AP, and a target AP according to a result of the comparison, and storing the classification result in a neighbor AP list; and selecting an AP for the handover based on the classification result in the neighbor AP list.
