Proposed is a scale-out-type storage system which implements high-availability, high-speed failover. In a scale-out-type storage system, two or more nodes each comprise a cluster controller, a node controller, a plurality of subcluster processes (subclusters and the like) which are processes which execute I/O processing in their own node, which form a subcluster between processes in their own node, and which are synchronized with work-type (active)/standby-type (passive) corresponding processes in the other nodes, and a nonvolatile data store (SODB). The configuration information of the storage system is held partitioned into global configuration information of the SODB and local configuration information and the like of the subclusters and the like, and thereupon the working-type subcluster is capable of executing I/O processing without accessing the SODB.

In a first file storage apparatus, a first controller, which manages a first file system comprising a plurality of files, transfers a copy of the first file to a second file storage apparatus when managing the first file, manages the copy of the first file as a first replication file, configures the replication destination of the first replication file in the first file as a first pointer and, when processing a second file as a de-duplication target file, manages the first replication file as a copy of the first file and second file, configures a first pointer in the second file, and deletes the first data on condition that the storage destination of the first data which comprises the first file has been configured in the first file, or deletes the second data on condition that the storage destination of the second data which comprises the second file has been configured in the second file.

Storage system and file management method

There has never been disclosed a method of executing migration on a fine-grained basis than a file system basis in a manner that is transparent to clients in a storage system with a plurality of servers to which a global name space is applied. In a storage system with a plurality of servers and a disk subsystem, which is coupled to the plurality of servers, a file system in the disk subsystem is assigned a first identifier, which is unique throughout the storage system, at least one of directories contained in the file system is assigned a second identifier, which is unique throughout the storage system, and a file contained in the file system is assigned a third identifier, which is unique throughout the file system. The server identifies a file below the directory that has the second identifier by the second identifier and by the third identifier.
