A vehicle wheel has a Helmholtz resonator (sub-air chamber member) mounted thereon with an adhesive material, and a thickness of the adhesive material on a part (adhesive strength increasing part) of the Helmholtz resonator on which centrifugal force acts strongly during rotation of the wheel is set to be thicker than a thickness of the adhesive material on other parts (regular part) of the Helmholtz resonator. When the thickness of the adhesive material is increased, peel strength of the adhesive material is enhanced accordingly.

Vehicle wheel and Helmholtz resonator

Provided is a vehicle wheel with which manufacturing costs can be reduced. The vehicle wheel includes a sub air chamber member as a Helmholtz resonator on a well portion of a rim. The sub air chamber member includes a protrusion portion which protrudes toward the rim, and the rim has a hole portion into which the protrusion portion is inserted to engage with the sub air chamber.

The guide member engages with the sub-air chamber member to guide the sub-air chamber member on the outer circumferential surface in the wheel circumferential direction, thereby to attach the sub-air chamber member to the rim.

A vehicle wheel includes: a pair of rail members configured as separate members from the rim and fixed to an outer circumferential surface of a well portion of a rim of a wheel; and a sub air chamber member serving as a Helmholtz resonator and disposed between and supported by the rail members. A method of manufacturing the vehicle wheel is also provided. The method includes the steps of: fixing the pair of rail members to the outer circumferential surface of the well portion; and attaching the sub air chamber member to the well portion through the pair of rail members such that the sub air chamber member is supported between the pair of rail members, wherein the rail member fixing step includes fixing the pair of rail members using a jig with the rail members spaced apart by the predetermined distance.

An auxiliary air chamber member includes: a lower surface arranged on the outer circumferential surface side of a well section; an upper surface arranged outward from the lower surface; an auxiliary air chamber formed between the upper surface and the lower surface; a pair of edges that join the lower surface and the upper surface on both sides in the width direction and that engage with the well section; and a plurality of joining sections that partially join the upper surface and the lower surface as a result of being sunk into the interior of the auxiliary air chamber from the upper surface and the lower surface between one edge and the other edge along the wheel width direction Y. The joining points of the individual joining sections are arranged on the strong axis of the cross-sectional main axis of the auxiliary air chamber member in an axial right section.

A sub-air chamber member includes: a lower surface portion disposed proximate to the outer circumferential surface of the well portion; an upper surface portion disposed radially outside of the lower surface portion; a pair of edge portions engaging with the well portion. A space portion is positioned above the upper surface portion, the space portion being formed by a part of the upper surface portion and an inner wall surface of the well portion. A strong axis of principal axes of a section of the sub-air chamber member perpendicular to an axis of the sub-air chamber member is inclined by a first predetermined angle relative to a wheel width direction Y.

The vehicle wheel () of the present invention is characterized by including: a main body () which forms a sub air chamber (SC) in a space surrounded by a top plate (), a bottom plate () and a pair of side plates (); and edge portions () which extend from the main body (), and are respectively fitted into a pair of grooves () formed in a well portion () so as to attach the main body () to the well portion (). The edge portions () respectively extend from the joints () between the top plate () and the side plates ().

A wheel width direction (Y) cross-section of a well portion (A) includes a hump portion (H) and a hump portion (H) that protrude to the outside (Z) in a wheel radial direction (Z), and a curved surface (s) that connects hump portion (H) and hump portion (H) and is sunken to the inside (Z) in the wheel radial direction (Z). The curved surface (s) is formed as a series of circular arcs (e,f,g) that have centers of curvature (O, O, O) that are further to the outside (Z) in the wheel radial direction (Z) than the curved surface (s).

This vehicle wheel includes: a first vertical wall surface defined by one rising part of a rim that forms a well part and a second vertical wall surface defined by another rising part are provided; an auxiliary air chamber member has a main body part with an auxiliary air chamber on the inside and has edge parts extending from each of both sides of the main body part in the wheel width direction; each of the edge parts of the auxiliary air chamber member fits into a groove formed in each of the first vertical wall surface and second vertical wall surface, and the auxiliary air chamber member is thereby attached atop the outer circumferential surface of the well part.

Vehicle wheel having sound-damping structures

A vehicle wheel () allows a communication hole () for a first Helmholtz resonator (auxiliary air chamber members ()) having a lower resonance frequency than that of an air column resonance sound of a tire and a communication hole () for a second Helmholtz resonator (auxiliary air chamber members ()) having a higher resonance frequency than that of the air column resonance sound of the tire to be disposed at positions facing each other across a wheel rotation center (Ax).

A vehicle wheel of the present invention, includes: a sub air chamber member which serves as a Helmholtz resonator and is fixed to an outer circumferential surface of a well portion in a tire air chamber; a first standing wall surface formed such as to stand from the outer circumferential surface of the well portion outward in radial direction and extend in circumferential direction of the outer circumferential surface; and a second standing wall surface formed on the well portion such as to face the first standing wall surface in width direction of the outer circumferential surface.
