[PROBLEM] To provide a novel method for synthesising a polyphenol. [SOLUTION] A polyphenol production method including the reaction of catechin in the presence of a catalyst and an oxidising agent, said catalyst comprising a metal oxide and/or a composite that comprises: a substrate which has an inorganic material on the surface thereof; and metal nanoparticles of a particle diameter of 0.5-100 nm attached to the surface of the inorganic material.

Polyphenol production method

A mask is provided that can inactivate viruses adhering thereto even in the presence of lipids and proteins regardless of whether or not the viruses have an envelope. The mask can inactivate viruses adhering thereto and includes a mask body provided with a member used when the mask is worn and virus inactivating fine particles having a virus inactivating ability and held by the mask body. The virus inactivating fine particles are particles of at least one selected from the group consisting of platinum(II) iodide, palladium(II) iodide, silver(I) iodide, copper(I) iodide, and copper(I) thiocyanate.

Mask

A gas treatment device includes a plasma-generating unit and a catalyst medium. The plasma-generating unit is provided with at least a flow channel through which a gas to be treated flows; and a power-supply unit for supplying electrical power, a first electrode, a second electrode and a dielectric material arranged inside the flow channel. A voltage is impressed between the first electrode and the second electrode by the power-supply unit and electrical discharging is caused to occur, whereby plasma is generated. The catalyst medium is adapted for accelerating a reaction with the gas to be treated and is provided in a position where the plasma generated by the plasma-generating unit inside the flow channel is present, and the catalyst medium has metallic catalytic particles present on an inorganic substance.

Device and method for gas treatment using non-thermal plasma and catalyst medium

A virus inactivating sheet is provided that can inactivate viruses adhering thereto even in the presence of lipids and proteins regardless of whether or not the viruses have an envelope. The virus inactivating sheet can inactivate viruses adhering thereto and includes a sheet body, and monovalent copper compound fine particles and/or iodide fine particles that are held by the sheet body. The virus inactivating sheet can inactivate various viruses. These viruses can be inactivated even in the presence of lipids and proteins.
