An inertial drive actuator includes a fixed member, a displacement generating mechanism of which, one end is adjacent to the fixed member, and a displacement is generated at the other end thereof, a driving mechanism which applies a voltage for displacing the displacement generating mechanism, a vibration substrate which is connected to the other end of the displacement generating mechanism, and which is displaceable in a direction of displacement, a mobile object which is disposed to be facing a vibration substrate electrode provided to the vibration substrate, and which moves with respect to the vibration substrate by an inertia, and a friction controlling mechanism which changes a frictional force between the mobile object and the vibration substrate. A regulating member which regulates the movement of the mobile object is provided to at least one of the fixed member and the vibration substrate such that the mobile object moves in a direction of displacement of the vibration substrate or in a direction other than the direction of displacement.

There is provided an inertial drive actuator in which, a small-sizing is easy, including a first displacement generating mechanism of which, one end is adjacent to a fixed member, and a first displacement is generated in the other end thereof, a second displacement generating mechanism of which, one end is adjacent to the fixed member, and which generates a second displacement in the other end thereof, a driving mechanism which applies a voltage for displacing the first displacement generating mechanism and the second displacement generating mechanism, a vibration substrate which is connected to the other end of the first displacement generating mechanism and the other end of the second displacement generating mechanism, and which is displaceable in a plane in which, there exist a direction of the first displacement and a direction of the second displacement, a mobile object which is disposed to be facing the vibration substrate, and which moves with respect to the vibration substrate by an inertia with respect to a displacement of the vibration substrate, and a friction controlling mechanism which changes a frictional force between the mobile object and the vibration substrate.

Inertial drive actuator

A stacked mounting structure includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and an intermediate substrate which has a space accommodating therein components to be mounted. A first contact (connecting) terminal and a second contact (connecting) terminal are formed on the first substrate and the second substrate, and have a wire which is formed on a side surface of the intermediate substrate. By formation of the intermediate substrate to be on an inner side than an edge surface of the substrates, a part of the two contact terminals respectively are exposed. One end of the wire is connected to an exposed portion of the first contact terminal, and the other end of the wire is connected to an exposed portion of the second contact terminal.

Stacked mounting structure

An imaging module includes a flexible printed circuit board which has a first area on which a first functional element is mounted, a second area on which a second functional element is mounted, and a third area which is formed between the first area and the second area, an electronic component which is mounted on the first area, and an imaging device which is mounted on the second area. The flexible printed circuit board is formed by an insulating layer which is integrated, spreading over the first area, the second area, and the third area. The flexible printed circuit board is formed such that the flexible printed circuit board can be bent at least in the third area.

Imaging module and method of manufacturing imaging module

Temporary assembling is carried out by inserting an ion conducting actuator into a groove which is provided at a central portion of a substrate. Thereafter, a bump is pressed by forcing in a direction of a surface of the substrate while carrying out leveling and thrust control, by a flat portion of a pedestal having a recess which is provided such that the ion conducting actuator is not crushed. At this time, due to a deformation of the bump which is pressed, the electrical connections are carried out assuredly, and the ion conducting actuator is held mechanically by both sides.

A stacked mounting structure includes at least two substrates namely a first substrate on which a first protruding electrode is formed and a second substrate on which a second protruding electrode is formed, and an intermediate substrate which is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and which connects the first substrate and the second substrate by leaving a predetermined gap between the first substrate and the second substrate. Mounted components are disposed in the gap between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first protruding electrode and the second protruding electrode are connected in an opening which is provided in the intermediate substrate.

A magnetic coupled actuator includes a lens which is movable in an optical axis direction AX, a lens frame which is coupled with the lens, a lens barrel which seals and accommodates the movable lens and the lens frame to be airtight, a permanent magnet which is disposed at an outer side of the lens barrel, facing the lens frame, and is disposed to be movable in the optical axis AX direction, and a wire of which, one end is coupled with the permanent magnet, and which moves the permanent magnet in the optical axis AX direction. At least one of the lens frame and the permanent magnet is a magnetic field generating means.

Magnetic coupled actuator

A light emitting device includes an n-type semiconductor layer, an active layer for generating light, the active layer being in electrical contact with the n-type semiconductor layer. A p-type semiconductor layer is in electrical contact with the active layer, and a p-electrode is in electrical contact with the p-type semiconductor layer. The p-electrode includes a layer of silver. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the n-type semiconductor layer and the p-type semiconductor layer are constructed from group III nitride semiconducting materials. In one embodiment of the invention, the silver layer is sufficiently thin to be transparent. In other embodiments, the silver layer is thick enough to reflect most of the light incident thereon. A fixation layer may be provided. The fixation layer may be a dielectric or a conductor.

III-nitride semiconductor light emitting device having a silver p-contact

The present invention is directed to a photoconductive switch module. The photoconductive switch module comprises a first substrate having light-emitting elements, and a second substrate having photoconductive switch elements, whose number is equal to that of the light-emitting elements. The light-emitting elements face the photoconductive switch elements, so that the photoconductive switch elements are turned on/off in accordance with lighting/extinction of the light-emitting elements. The photoconductive switch module further comprises a third substrate arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate. The third substrate has through holes, whose number is equal to that of the light-emitting elements. Each through hole is positioned between a light-emitting element and a photoconductive switch element facing each other. Drive light emitted from each light-emitting element travels to the photoconductive switch element via the through hole.

Photoconductive switch module

Optical frequency conversion systems and methods are described. In one aspect, an optical frequency conversion system for generating a frequency-shifted replica of an input optical signal includes a phase modulation control signal generator and an optical phase modulator. The phase modulation control signal generator receives the input optical signal and generates a phase modulation control signal characterized by a sequence of phase shift control portions synchronized to the input optical signal. The optical phase modulator receives the input optical signal and phase shifts the input optical signal in accordance with the phase shift control portions of the phase modulation control signal to generate a frequency-converted replica of the input optical signal. An optical frequency conversion method for generating a frequency-shifted replica of an input optical signal also is described.

Optical frequency conversion systems and methods

A device and manufacturing method are provided that comprises forming first and second substrates joined together and comprising a main channel provided in at least one of the substrates and a connecting channel provided in at least one of the substrates, the connecting channel connected to the main channel, and the main channel having spaced apart electrodes and at least partially filled with liquid metal. The method further comprises forming a heater substrate comprising a suspended heater element in fluid communication with the connecting channel, the suspended heater element operable to cause a fluid non-conductor to separate the liquid metal and selectively interconnect the electrodes, and providing a high-frequency signal loss reduction structure between the main channel and the heater substrate.

Multi-substrate liquid metal high-frequency switching device

A light emitting device is constructed on a substrate. The device includes an n-type semiconductor layer in contact with the substrate, an active layer for generating light, the active layer being in electrical contact with the n-type semiconductor layer. A p-type semiconductor layer is in electrical contact with the active layer, and a p-electrode is in electrical contact with the p-type semiconductor layer. The p-electrode includes a layer of silver in contact with the p-type semiconductor layer. A bonding layer is formed overlying the silver layer to make an electrical connection to the silver layer. The silver layer may be thin and transparent or thicker (greater than 20 nm) and reflective.

Semiconductor light emitting device having a silver p-contact

A device and manufacturing method are provided comprising first and second substrates comprising a main channel provided in at least one of the substrates and a first connecting channel provided in at least one of the substrates and in fluid communication with the main channel. The main channel comprising spaced apart electrodes and filling the main channel at least partially with liquid metal. The method further comprising a first heater substrate comprising a first suspended heater element in fluid communication with the first connecting channel with the first suspended heater element operable to cause a fluid non-conductor to separate the liquid metal and selectively interconnect the electrodes and surface joining the first, second, and first heater substrates.

Surface joined multi-substrate liquid metal switching device

The switch device includes first and second cavities, a passage extending between the cavities, a conductive liquid located in the passage and movable therein, a conductive path that includes the conductive liquid, an actuating liquid enclosed in each of the first and second cavities and covering the inner surfaces thereof and an actuating gas enclosed in each of the first and second cavities and existing as a bubble therein. At least one of the cavities includes a constriction element shaped to constrain the expansion of the actuating gas bubble in the cavity. This limits expulsion of the actuating liquid into the passage and movement of the conductive liquid along the passage.

Liquid conductor switch device

Optical signal storage devices are described. In one aspect, an optical signal storage device includes an optical memory loop and a substrate. The substrate carries an input optical port, an output optical port, an optical signal path that is coupled between the input and output optical ports, an optical memory path that is coupled to complete the optical memory loop, and an optical read/write controller that is coupled between the optical signal path and the optical memory path. The optical read/write controller is operable to selectively transmit light between the optical signal path and the optical memory path based on received control light. In another aspect, the optical read/write controller comprises at least one saturable absorber optical switch having a transmittance that varies nonlinearly with received light intensity so that light is selectively transmittable between the optical memory loop and the input and output optical ports based on received control light.
