A color conversion filter substrate includes a transparent support substrate, one or more types of color conversion layers with a thickness more than 5 &#x3bc;m formed on the support substrate in a desired pattern, and a protective layer formed of a transparent material for covering the support substrate and the color conversion layers and having a flat surface. After a display is produced, the color conversion pattern layers contain unsaturated functional groups at a concentration equal to or less than 1.4&#xd7;10mol/g.

Color conversion filter substrate and organic multicolor light emitting device

A high boiling-point solvent, included in a fluorescent color conversion film, suppresses degradation in color conversion characteristic by compensating for a decrease in dielectric constant due to solidification of the matrix system. The fluorescent color conversion film of the present invention includes, in addition to the high boiling point solvent, organic fluorescent dyes, which absorb light in a near ultraviolet to visible light region and emit visible light of a different wavelength, and a matrix resin bearing the organic fluorescent dye. The high boiling point solvent has a boiling point of 150&deg; C. or higher and a vapor pressure of 5 mmHg or lower at the temperature of 20&deg; C. The fluorescent color conversion film is useful in a fluorescent color conversion filter, which itself is useful in light-emitting devices, such as self-emitting multi-colored- or full colored-displays, display panels and backlights.

A fluorescent conversion filter converts the light in the region between near-ultraviolet and blue to green light and emits the green light with a high color purity, and to provide an organic light emitting element including such a fluorescent conversion filter. The fluorescent conversion filter contains, in a matrix resin, a fluorescent converter material, selected from a fluorescent dye, a fluorescent pigment and a mixture of a fluorescent dye and a fluorescent pigment, that absorbs light in the wavelength region between near-ultraviolet and blue and emits green light, and a light absorbing dye. The fluorescent converter material, that has an absorption band in the wavelength region between 450 and 500 nm, is contained in the fluorescent conversion filter at a mixing ratio, at that the light absorbance of the fluorescent conversion filter is one or more in the wavelength region between 450 and 500 nm. The light absorbing dye, that has an absorption band in the more than 550 nm wavelength region, is contained in the fluorescent conversion filter at a mixing ratio, at that the light absorbance of the fluorescent conversion filter is 0.1 or more in the wavelength region between 550 and 650 nm. By transmitting the light from an organic light emitter in the wavelength region between 450 and 520 mn through the fluorescent conversion filter according to the invention, green light with a high color purity is obtained. A fluorescent conversion film containing a fluorescent converter material and a light absorption film containing a light absorbing dye may be laminated to form a laminate fluorescent conversion filter.

Fluorescent conversion filter and organic light emitting element including the same

A fluorescent conversion filter suppresses decomposition and quenching of fluorescent dyes or pigments. An organic light-emitting device may be equipped with such a fluorescent conversion filter. The fluorescent conversion filter is formed by coating with a coating material, followed by patterning by photolithography. The coating material consists of a mixture of organic fluorescent dye or pigment that absorbs light in the ultraviolet to visible light region. The coating also includes a photo-setting or photo-and-thermo-setting resin containing a photopolymerizaion initiator of a hydrogen abstraction type having a benzophenone skeleton within the molecule. As a result, an organic light-emitting device is produced by combining the a fluorescent conversion filter with an organic light-emitting element.

A deposition apparatus is used for depositing a layer of an organic thin-film light-emitting element on a substrate. The apparatus is formed of a vacuum chamber for depositing the layer for constituting the organic thin-film light-emitting element on the substrate, a set of parts disposed in the vacuum chamber for depositing the layer on the substrate and including a source for the layer, and a supporting member for supporting the set of parts so that the set of parts is replaceably disposed in the chamber. A dust of a material disposed in the source and evaporated therefrom is adhered to the set of parts, but the set of parts can be replaced easily. Thus, the apparatus can be operated efficiently.

Deposition apparatus for an organic thin-film light-emitting element

An organic light-emitting device is formed of a transparent substrate, anodes in a stripe pattern formed on the transparent substrate, an organic film layer formed on the anodes, and cathodes formed on the organic film layer. Each of the anode includes a first conductor formed of a transparent and electrically conductive film containing a metal oxide as a main component, and a second conductor extending along the first conductor. The second conductor is formed of metal with a resistivity of 1/10 or less than a resistivity of a constituent material of the first conductor. Thus, the organic light-emitting device emits light efficiently with a low power consumption.

Organic light-emitting device and method of manufacturing the same

In a method for driving an organic light-emitting display element, the element has a reduced possibility of sticking and a long life without reducing the brightness. In the method for driving a display element having the organic light-emitting element emitting light by a current passing through the organic thin film, a voltage VC applied to the cathode of the organic light-emitting element and a voltage VA applied to the anode of the organic light-emitting element are applied to each surface of the organic thin film through two lines that cross each other. Also, the display of the pixel in the intersection of the two lines is controlled by electric signals through the two lines. During a period of time in which each pixel is unlighted, a recovery voltage within a specified range is applied to the pixel for a specified period of time or longer.

Display element driving method

A method to drive a display-element reduces the possibility of a sticking screen and ensures a high-quality display. A current flowing through each of the pixels constituting a display element is controlled so as to be maintained at a value required for a display operation.
