A roller assembly positioned downstream of a printing station in a web-fed rotary printing press for pneumatically guiding a web of paper after it has been printed upon, without the risk of smearing the printings. The assembly includes a roller in the form of a hollow cylinder defining a plenum chamber therein and having formed in its surface a multiplicity of air outlet openings in communication with the plenum chamber. Air supplied under pressure to the chamber is therefore expelled from the air outlet openings in order to avoid contact with the roller the web traveling over the rollera baffle encloses at least part of the circumferential part of the roller surface for confining the air being expelled from said at least part of the other circumferential part of the roller surface and for redirecting the confined air into a pair of spaces, spaced, between the web and the roller.

Web guide roller, and printing press incorporating the same

In a pump intermittently rotated and controlled by a motor, the motor, etc. rise in temperature and ink supply is unstable when an operation of the pump is stopped in a magnetizing state. Therefore, the invention resides in a pump for a printing machine characterized in that the pump has a base; a cylinder having a suction hole and a discharge hole opened in positions different from each other in phase on the inner circumferential face of a main hole; a plunger fitted to an opening side of the main hole of the cylinder so as to be axially moved and rotated from an end tip of the main hole and closing the suction hole or/and the discharge hole; a motor attached to the base such that a rotating central line of a rotating shaft crosses that of the plunger at a predetermined crossing angle; a transmission mechanism constructed by an arm and a connection member; and retrogression preventing means for arranging the plunger temporarily stopped at a discharging stroke during an operation of the pump intermittently operated by the motor such that the plunger is not retreated and not angularly displaced in a direction reverse to a predetermined operating direction.

Pump for printing machine

A doctor blade apparatus is attached to a doctor whose doctor blade is pressed against a metering roller provided in an inking train of a printing apparatus and scrapes off an excess portion of ink transferred onto the circumferential surface of the metering roller. The doctor blade apparatus comprises a blade holder attached to a base which moves toward and away from the metering roller, a doctor blade held by the blade holder and extending along substantially the entire axial length of the metering roller, and an elasticity-modifying member which abuts, along the longitudinal direction of the doctor blade, a deflection-side surface of the doctor blade whose edge is pressed against the circumferential surface of the metering roller and deflects accordingly. The elasticity-modifying member is movable toward and away from the edge of the doctor blade. A reciprocal movement mechanism reciprocally moves the elasticity-modifying member toward and away from the edge of the doctor blade. A plurality of elasticity-modifying members may be provided for a single doctor blade along the axial direction of the metering roller and may be adapted to be movable independently of each other.

Doctor blade apparatus

A printing plates lifting apparatus having storing function in a rotary press having upper and lower printing units arranged in tiers and upper and lower work floors corresponding to the printing units. The printing plates lifting apparatus comprises upper and lower rotating bodies, opposed endless flexible bodies which are engaged with vertically opposed upper and lower rotating bodies, driving means for rotating the rotating bodies to run the endless flexible bodies, and printing plate hanging members arranged along and between the endless flexible bodies.

A roller shifting device for a printing press comprises first support means for supporting a form dampening roller for shifting the form dampening roller relative to a surface of a plate on a plate cylinder between a first contacting position and a second released position, second support means for supporting a transfer roller for shifting the transfer roller relative to the form dampening roller between a first contacting position and a second released position, third support means for supporting another roller other than the transfer roller and to be contacted with and released from the form dampening roller for shifting the another roller between a first contacting position and a second released position, means for cooperating the first, second and third support means for synchronous shifting between the first and second positions, means for differentiating a shifting stroke and/or direction of the tfirst support means from those of the second and third support means, and actuating means associated with one of the first, second and third means for driving to shift the first, second and third support means in synchronism with each other.

Roller shifting device for printing press

An apparatus for stacking signatures or the like includes a guide plate having a predetermined angle of inclination and a conveyor for successively loading signatures onto the upper end of the guide plate from the upper side of the latter. The foremost end of a stack of signatures which are being stacked on the guide plate is supported by a first support member which gradually lowers through a section from the signature loading position to an intermediary position, and is then supported by a second support member through a section from the intermediary position to an unloading position. The rearmost end of the stack of signatures is supported by a third support member through the entire section from the loading position to the unloading position. For this purpose, the first, second and third support members are repeatedly moved along the guide plate in relation to each other. Also disclosed are techniques accompanying the signature stacking technique, that is, means for pressing a signature at the loading section, means for forming a stack of signatures, auxiliary means for forming a stack of signatures and means for attaching a panel to each of the front and rear ends of a stack of signatures.
