Oxygen-containing gas discharge passages are provided in a first metal separator of a fuel cell of a fuel cell stack. The oxygen-containing gas discharge passages include an upper oxygen-containing gas discharge passages and a lower oxygen-containing gas discharge passage. In the first metal separator, a central position at the center between the upper oxygen-containing gas discharge passage and the lower oxygen-containing gas discharge passage is positioned below the center of an oxygen-containing gas flow field in the gravity direction.

Fuel cell and fuel cell stack

In a power generating cell, on a surface on a side opposite from an electrolyte membrane in an anode, there are provided an outer peripheral surface positioned on an outer peripheral portion of the anode, a central surface located more inwardly than an inner peripheral portion of a resin frame member, and a stepped portion connecting the outer peripheral surface and the central surface to each other. A height of the central surface from the electrolyte membrane is lower than that of the outer peripheral surface. A protruding end surface of an end linear protrusion is in contact with the central surface.

Power generating cell

A power generation cell includes a resin film equipped MEA and a first metal separator. The first metal separator includes an oxygen-containing gas flow field, an outer peripheral bead, and a first bypass stopping convex portion. An oxygen-containing gas flows across the oxygen-containing gas flow field along an electrode surface. The outer peripheral bead surrounds the oxygen-containing gas flow field to prevent leakage of a reactant gas. The first bypass stopping convex portion extends from the outer peripheral bead. A corner of a cathode on at least one end in the flow field direction of the oxygen-containing gas flow field is overlapped with an apex portion of the first bypass stopping convex portion.

Power generation cell

A fuel cell includes an MEA, a first separator, and a second separator. A frame member is provided around an outer peripheral portion of an MEA, and held between the first separator and the second separator. The height of an oxygen-containing gas flow field formed by the second separator, from the MEA is larger than the height of a fuel gas flow field formed by the first separator, from the MEA. The central position of the MEA in the thickness direction and the central position of the frame member outer peripheral portion of the frame member in the thickness direction are offset from each other.

Fuel cell

Second inlet connection flow grooves and second outlet connection flow grooves are formed in a power generation cell. The second inlet connection flow grooves connect a fuel gas supply passage and a fuel gas flow field. The second outlet connection flow grooves connect a fuel gas discharge passage and the fuel gas flow field. The flow channel of the second inlet connection flow grooves diverges multiple times in an area from the fuel gas supply passage to the fuel gas flow field. The flow channel of the second outlet connection flow grooves merges multiple times in an area from the fuel gas flow field to the fuel gas discharge passage. The number of merging in the second outlet connection flow grooves is larger than the number of diverging in the second inlet connection flow grooves.
