A backside illumination image sensor that includes a semiconductor substrate with a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements and a read circuit formed on a front surface side of the semiconductor substrate, and captures an image by outputting, via the read circuit, electrical signals generated as incident light having reached a back surface side of the semiconductor substrate is received at the photoelectric conversion elements includes: a light shielding film formed on a side where incident light enters the photoelectric conversion elements, with an opening formed therein in correspondence to each photoelectric conversion element, and an on-chip lens formed at a position set apart from the light shielding film by a predetermined distance in correspondence to each photoelectric conversion element. The light shielding film and an exit pupil plane of the image forming optical system achieve a conjugate relation to each other with regard to the on-chip lens.

Backside illumination image sensor and image-capturing device

A backside illumination image sensor that includes a semiconductor substrate with a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements and a read circuit formed on a front surface side of the semiconductor substrate, and captures an image by outputting, via the read circuit, electrical signals generated as incident light having reached a back surface side of the semiconductor substrate is received at the photoelectric conversion elements includes: a light shielding film formed on a side where incident light enters the photoelectric conversion elements, with an opening formed therein in correspondence to each photoelectric conversion element; and an on-chip lens formed at a position set apart from the light shielding film by a predetermined distance in correspondence to each photoelectric conversion element. An image sensor includes: first pixels, each of which receives a pair of light fluxes and outputs a pair of first analog signals; an A/D conversion unit that converts each of pairs of first analog signals to a pair of first digital signals; a digital adder unit that generates digital sum signals each by adding together the pair of first digital signals among pairs of first digital signals; a first output unit that outputs pairs of first digital signals to an external recipient; and a second output unit that outputs the digital sum signals to an external recipient.

A focus detection device includes: a plurality of first pixels having first color filters, via which a pair of first signals, to be used for split-pupil phase detection, are output; a plurality of second pixels having second color filters, via which a pair of second signals, to be used for the split-pupil phase detection, are output; a phase difference detection unit that detects a phase difference manifested by the first signals or a phase difference manifested by the second signals; and a defocus amount calculation unit that calculates a defocus amount by using a first conversion coefficient corresponding to the first color when the phase difference detection unit has detected the phase difference manifested by the first signals and by using a second conversion coefficient corresponding to the second color when the phase difference detection unit has detected the phase difference manifested by the second signals.

Focus detection device and image-capturing apparatus

An image display method displays image data obtained through a photographing operation performed at an image-capturing apparatus having a photographic optical system. The method includes: (i) image-capturing in which image data are generated by photographing a subject within a photographic image plane with the image-capturing apparatus; (ii) information collection in which subject information related to the subject is collected; (iii) correlating in which the subject information is made to correlate to a position within the photographic image plane; (iv) image display in which the image data are displayed at a display screen; (v) position specification in which a position on the display screen at which the image data are displayed is specified; and (vi) information display in which the subject information made to correlate to a position within the photographic image plane corresponding to the position specified in the position specification is displayed.

Image display apparatus having image-related information displaying function

A display system has a (1) camera that includes a lens and outputs an image data; (2) a first display that includes a first display screen on which (i) a first image, based on the image data output by the camera, containing a part of a person is displayed and (ii) information indicating a position where the camera has output the image data is displayed; and (3) a second display that includes (i) a receiver which receives the image data transmitted from the camera and (ii) a second display screen that displays a second image based on the image data. The second display can be carried by the person while receiving the image data.

A first mobile electronic device includes an image sensor that outputs image data from an image of a subject received through a lens of the first mobile electronic device, a first communication circuit and a second communication circuit. The first communication circuit transmits the image data to a server. The second communication circuit is different from the first communication circuit and transmits information by which to obtain the image data from the server to a second mobile electronic device so that the image data can be obtained from the server by the second mobile electronic device using the information.

A focus detection device includes: an image sensor that includes a plurality of focus detection pixel rows, each having a plurality of focus detection pixels and each outputting a pair of focus detection signals; a spatial accumulation unit that calculates spatially accumulated values by adding together pairs of focus detection signals output from a first predetermined number of focus detection pixel rows among the plurality of focus detection pixel rows; and a focus detection unit that detects a focusing condition at an optical system based upon the spatially accumulated values.

A first mobile electronic device includes a camera that has a lens and that outputs image data from a subject; a first communication circuit that transmits the image data to a server; and a second communication circuit different from the first communication circuit and that transmits information related to the server to a second mobile electronic device.
