A method of transmitting universal serial bus (USB) frames over a communications channel is disclosed. A USB device receives one or more USB frames from a host device via a network, wherein the one or more USB frames are encapsulated in one or more data packets based on a communications protocol associated with the network. The USB device further synchronizes a local clock signal with a clock signal of the host device using a clock synchronization mechanism of the communications protocol. The USB device then determines a number of USB frames transmitted by the host device and processes the one or more USB frames based, at least in part, on the synchronized local clock signal. For some embodiments, the USB device may receive a frame count value and a corresponding media time value from the host device.

A system for small space positioning comprises a transmitting element at a fixed and known location, which transmitting a modulated continuous wave, for example an ultrasonic wave, having a continuous carrier signal part and a base-band signal modulated thereon. The transmitting element transmits the modulated continuous wave over a range in which an object to be positioned may appear. A receiving element receives signals transmitted by the transmitting device and reflected by the object, and a position detection element determines a position of the object from analysis of both the carrier signal part and the base-band signal received from the reflected signal.

Methods of using a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) device in a virtual environment are disclosed. Two operating systems operate on a primary device. One operating system acts as a guest in a virtual environment within the primary device. A peripheral device is coupled to the primary device through a wireless connection. In an exemplary embodiment, the wireless connection is a PCIe bridge. The host operating system interfaces directly with the memory elements and hardware of the primary device. The guest operating system interoperates with the memory elements and hardware of the peripheral device. The use of the PCIe wireless link allows the guest operating system to interface with the elements of the peripheral device with relatively little latency.

Methods of using a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIE) device in a virtual environment

Transceivers implemented with a combination of super-heterodyne and zero intermediate frequency (ZIF) topologies are disclosed. In an exemplary design, an apparatus includes a frequency conversion circuit and a local oscillator (LO) generator. The LO generator generates a first LO signal and a second LO signal. The frequency conversion circuit performs frequency conversion (i) between intermediate frequency (IF) and baseband, based on the first LO signal, for an IF signal and (ii) between radio frequency (RF) and baseband, based on the second LO signal, for an RF signal. The frequency conversion circuit may perform frequency downconversion (i) from IF to baseband for a super-heterodyne receiver and (ii) from RF to baseband for a ZIF receiver. Alternatively or additionally, the frequency conversion circuit may perform frequency upconversion (i) from baseband to IF for a super-heterodyne transmitter and (ii) from baseband to RF for a ZIF transmitter.

Reciprocal wireless connections may be established between a pair of devices to support failover, load balancing, traffic distribution, or other peer-to-peer connectivity features. Each device of a pair of devices may implement both a local wireless access point and a local wireless station to communicate with the other device of the pair of devices. Establishment of a second wireless connection between the pair of devices may be coordinated using a protocol extension of a first wireless connection. A multiplexing (MUX) component may coordinate traffic among the reciprocal wireless connections.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for an adaptive demodulator that supports multiple modes. An FM signal may be received at a demodulator and parameters corresponding to the FM signal may be identified. Connections between multiple modules within the demodulator may be configured, based at least in part on the parameters, to select one of multiple demodulation modes supported by the demodulator to demodulate the FM signal. The modes may include a phase differencing mode, a phase-locked loop (PLL) mode, a frequency-compressive feedback (FCF) mode, and/or a quadrature detector mode. The parameters may include one or both of a signal strength of the FM signal and a maximum frequency deviation of the FM signal. Based on the parameters, one or more signals may be generated to configure the connections within the demodulator. A switch from one mode to another may occur when one of the parameters breaches a threshold value.

A system for wireless communication using ultrasonic signals that includes a transmission module, which receives input signals from a wireless device, modifies the received input signals in a manner that converts each received input signal into a corresponding ultrasonic signal and wirelessly transmits each said ultrasonic signal over an ultrasonic link, and a receiving module, which receives the transmitted ultrasonic signals, recovers the corresponding input signals therefrom and enables outputting each respective input signal through one or more output devices. Modification of the input signals may include compressing, encoding and modulating the input signals. The input signals may be voice audio signals for enabling to use the system for supporting phone calls by enabling ultrasonic communication between for instance, a wireless headset and a mobile phone. Transmission and receiving modules may be associated with a wireless headset and mobile phone for allowing ultrasonic and optionally RF communication therebetween.
