There is provided an image forming apparatus that can stably discharge liquid from a liquid discharge head and can be reduced in size by a simple structure. In an image forming apparatus, a gas compressor is provided so as to face the peripheral surface of an image forming drum , which corresponds to a range positioned outside a transport range in which a recording medium is transported and deviating from the transport range in a circumferential direction. The gas compressor is adapted to blow secondary compressed gas, which is generated by primary compressed gas supplied from the outside of the apparatus and of which the temperature is low, to the peripheral surface. The secondary compressed gas, which is blown from the gas compressor, is guided to the peripheral surface by a guide part and is diffused along the direction of a rotation axis of the image forming drum.

Liquid droplet discharge device

An inkjet recording device has: an image drawing drum that holds and conveys plural sheets at plural different holding surfaces respectively; and inkjet heads that are provided so as to face the image drawing drum and form an image on a surface of a sheet that is held on the image drawing drum. A control device has plural conveying modes that are set such that sheets are thinned-conveyed to a predetermined holding surface, without using all of the plural holding surfaces of the image drawing drum. The control device selects any one of the plural conveying modes on the basis of a number of sheets processed per unit time.

Image forming device and image forming method

An image recording apparatus includes: an image recording drum that suctions and holds a paper on an outer circumferential surface thereof in state of an image recording surface of the paper facing outward, and rotates at a constant speed so as to convey the paper; an image recording drum temperature adjustment device which adjusts temperature of the image recording drum; a cooling device which spouts out cooling air from a constant position towards the outer circumferential surface of the image recording drum in such a manner that the cooling air is blown onto the image recording surface of the paper conveyed by the image recording drum so as to cool the paper; and an image recording device which deposits ink onto the image recording surface of the paper conveyed by the image recording drum to record an image on the image recording surface, the image recording device being situated in a stage after the cooling device and depositing the ink onto the paper having been cooled to record the image.

Image recording apparatus

A inkjet recording method is provided in which occurrence of curling at the time of double-sided recording is prevented. In the method, an inkjet recording medium is used which includes resin coated paper having a resin layer A of thickness 'a' at one side of base paper, and a resin layer B thinner than the thickness 'a' by a thickness of 3 &#x3bc;m to 20 &#x3bc;m at the other side of the base paper, and ink receiving layers each of which includes an inorganic pigment and a binder and are provided at both sides of the resin coated paper; and an image is recorded on the ink receiving layer at the resin layer B side of the resin coated paper, and subsequently an image is recorded on the ink receiving layer at the resin layer A side of the resin coated paper.

Inkjet recording method

The invention provides a sheet distributor and a sheet distributing method. The sheet distributor with which supplied sheets of a specified length are distributed to a plurality of lines of sheets, has a transport unit which keeps transporting each supplied sheet in a transport direction while the sheet is being distributed, a moving unit which moves said transport unit laterally in a perpendicular direction to the transport direction, a position detecting sensor which detects a position of a advancing end of the sheet in the transport direction when the sheet is transported and a control section that controls the start of the movement of said moving unit in accordance with a timing of detecting the advancing end of the sheets. The sheet is moved in a direction oblique to the transport direction during transporting such that a position of the sheet in a widthwise direction is changed at each time of sheet supply, whereby supplied sheets are arranged in a plurality of lines. The sheets distributor is incorporated in a image recorder which has a recording section that records an image on the recording material in transport by scanning in the a widthwise direction.

Sheet distributor, image recorder, and a sheet distributing method

There is provided a photographic printer for transporting a photosensitive material in a reverse direction thereby improving the processing performance without wasting the photosensitive material, and a photographic printer exposure method. During automatic loading of the photographic paper (,) from the paper magazine (,) and during the paper replenishment, the gear train (,) is interrupted by an electromagnetic clutch (,) so that the second pair of transporting rollers (,) are freely rotatable. The first pair of transporting rollers (,) feeds the photographic paper from the paper magazine towards the exposure sections (,) and (,) by the driving force of motor (,). The freely rotatable second pair of transporting rollers, disposed between the first pair of transporting rollers and the exposure sections and guide the photographic paper. When a reverse transporting operation for rewinding the photographic paper is needed, the clutch and the solenoid of the electromagnetic clutch are simultaneously switched over, so that the driving force of motor (,) is transmitted to the second pair of transporting rollers via the second gear (,) and the gear train (,). As a result, the second pair of transporting rollers are rotated by motor (,) while the roller (,A) is rotated by motor (,), so that the photographic paper is transported toward the first pair of transporting rollers (,).

Photographic printer and photographic printer exposure method

The improved image recording apparatus includes a light-sensitive material supply section having a loader of a magazine containing a roll of a light-sensitive material in a lightproof case and a withdrawing device for withdrawing the light-sensitive material from the magazine; a cutter for cutting the light-sensitive material into sheets; an image recording section which has a scanning transport device for transporting the cut sheets of light-sensitive material for scanning and an exposing device by which the light-sensitive material is exposed to recording light modulated in accordance with digital image data; a transport device which transports the light-sensitive material from the cutter to the scanning transport device and which transports the as-exposed light-sensitive material to a next step; and a back printing section which is provided midway along the path of transport of the light-sensitive material by the transport device to record a back print on the non-recording side of the light-sensitive material. Besides the reduction in the cost of print preparation due to the improved throughput of the processor, the distributing device of the invention offers the advantage of reducing the cost of the image recording apparatus to a lower level than has been achieved by using the conventional distributing device.

Image recording apparatus and a light-sensitive material distributing

A paper mask device can alternatively hold a first paper mask or a second paper mask. The first paper mask has a mask aperture to which a lith film with appropriate lettering is attached. The second paper mask has a mask aperture for making an index print composed of a plurality of index frames. The paper mask device can hold a lamp box for illuminating the lith film when the first paper mask is held in the paper mask device. The paper mask device holds the paper mask so as to be pivotal about an axis that is disposed in a center of a leading end of the paper mask in the mask inserting direction, so that inclination of the mask aperture is adjustable through a positioning device which holds opposite side edges of a trailing end portion of the paper mask in the masking position.

In the improved method of distributing sheets of light-sensitive material for use in an image recording apparatus, the sheets of light-sensitive material are distributed in a lateral direction perpendicular to their transport through a developing machine to form a plurality of rows. The method uses two distributing units that lift the sheets of light-sensitive material and transport the sheets in the lateral direction. The two distributing units are alternately put into action to distribute the sheets of light-sensitive material into a plurality of rows. The improved distributing device comprises two lift units, a substrate having guide members, two paddle plates, a spring and a motor. Employing a short pathlength, the method is capable of distributing individual sheets of light-sensitive material into two or three rows, practically keeping pace with rapid print production (imagewise exposure) such as processing one print every two seconds. The device of the invention for implementing this method is small in size and features a simple and low-cost layout.
