The present invention relates to a developer carrying member which includes a substrate and the resin layer formed on the surface of the substrate, wherein the resin layer is obtained by thermally curing the coating material composition including at least the following (A) to (E): (A) a thermosetting resin as a binder resin; (B) an alcohol as a solvent, containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms; (C) a resin including the unit represented by the following formula (1); (D) graphitized carbon black having a graphite (002) lattice spacing of 0.3370 nm or more and 0.3450 nm or less as measured by X-ray diffraction; and (E) acid carbon black having a pH of 5.0 or less:

The present invention provides a developer carrying member capable of maintaining excellent charge imparting property even under long-term use. The present invention relates to a developer carrying member including a substrate and a resin layer, wherein the resin layer includes an acrylic resin having three specific structural units and electroconductive particles.

A developer carrying member and a developing assembly are provided which can stably provide the toner with triboelectric charges, may prevent any problems such as image density decrease, density non-uniformity and spots around images even during running on a large number of sheets, and can enjoy a stable and good developing performance. The developer carrying member has a substrate and a resin layer, and the resin layer containing a thermosetting resin, an acrylic resin having specific units and electroconductive particles.

A developing roller suppresses scattering of toner during a developing process and provides a further higher-quality electrophotographic image. The developing roller has a mandrel, an elastic layer provided on the circumference of the mandrel, and a surface layer provided on the circumference of the elastic layer. The surface layer contains a urethane resin serving as a binder and urethane resin particles dispersed in the binder, for forming convex portions on the surface of the surface layer. The surface of the urethane resin particles is partly covered with fine inorganic particles containing at least one element selected from silicon, titanium and aluminum and the urethane resin particles are in direct contact with the binder at the surface onto which the fine inorganic particles are not attached.

The present invention intends to provide a method of producing a developing roller capable of providing high-quality electrophotographic images under a variety of environments. The method of producing a developing roller according to the present invention is a method of producing a developing roller having a mandrel, a resin layer on the outer periphery of the mandrel, and a surface layer on the outer periphery of the resin layer, the method including the step of curing a mixture containing a carbon black, a specific diol, and a specific isocyanate compound to form the surface layer.
