A charging-discharging device includes a selection unit to acquire estimated load power data indicating estimation of power to be consumed by an electric load, to acquire estimated solar power-generation power data indicating estimation of power to be generated by a solar power generation system, and to select one of a plurality of specific operations regarding usage of power on the basis of the estimated load power data, the estimated solar power-generation power data, operational mode data indicating an operational mode that identifies a power utilization method, price data indicating a price of AC power to be supplied from a commercial system and a price of AC power to be supplied to the commercial system, power conversion efficiency data indicating power conversion efficiency of a power converter at the time of charging or discharging a storage battery, and current time data.

An illuminance sensor detects an illuminance value for an environment in which a display device is placed and provides the illuminance value to a controller. The controller determines whether to cause the display device to make a transition to a power saving mode or not in accordance with the illuminance value inputted thereto. For the transition to the power saving mode, the controller stops the operation of a backlight drive signal generator to turn off a backlight unit, and stops the supply of power and a display signal to a liquid crystal panel.

Discriminator receiving a DDC transmission request from an external computer through a DDC control, judges whether a video signal inputted from the computer is a signal of analog specification or digital specification from an analog channel input detection signal from an analog synchronizing signal detector. On the basis of the judgment result, the discriminator controls the DDC control, input channel switch and OSD switch to switch EDID data, an input channel and OSD into ones supporting the specification of the video signal, respectively. In a display monitor having a DDC function which includes a DVI-I connector, with the above constitution, a correct setting of the input channel, EDID data and the like is automatically made in accordance with the specification of the input signal.
