A capacitance detection apparatus is provided with: a parallel circuit in which a first series circuit and a second series circuit are connected in parallel, wherein a tested body and a first resistance element are connected at a first node in the first series circuit, and a reference capacitance element and a second resistance element are connected at a second node in the second series circuit; a power supply circuit configured to apply an alternating current voltage with a specific frequency to the parallel circuit; an inductor element connected between the first node and the second node and configured to increase a phase difference in the voltage with the specific frequency between the first and second nodes; and an output device configured to output an electric signal corresponding to a capacitance of the tested body on the basis of the phase difference.

An imaging apparatus includes an electron emission array having electron sources arranged in matrix form and having a plurality of horizontal scan lines, a photoelectric conversion film opposed to the electron emission array, and a control and drive circuit configured to select one or more of the horizontal scan lines in a given video signal output period and to cause the electron sources included in the selected one or more horizontal scan lines to emit electrons toward the photoelectric conversion film to produce a video signal, wherein the control and drive circuit is configured to control electron emission of the electron emission array in a blanking period in response to a signal level of the video signal produced in the given video signal output period.

Disclosed is an image pickup device capable of greatly reducing delay in drive signals supplied to field emission devices, and cross-talk and the like that originate in these drive signals. The image pickup device comprises a photoelectric conversion film for receiving incident light on one side thereof; a field emission layer having an electron emitting surface apart from and facing the other side of the photoelectric conversion film, and including a plurality of electron emission devices; and a drive layer formed on a back side of the field emission layer and including a plurality of device drive circuits for supplying drive signals to each of back electrodes of the plurality of electron emission devices.

An apparatus for driving a light-emitting display controls the light-emission of light-emitting elements in such a manner that a driving current or driving voltage having a prescribed value to be supplied to the light-emitting elements is turned on or off by an on/off signal from a driving unit. The driving apparatus includes a pixel read section for reading the luminance values for the light-emitting elements in a frame period from an image signal and a &#x394;&#x3a3; modulator which operates in a sub-frame period which is 1/n of the frame period according to the luminance values read by the pixel read section. The output of '1' or '0' from &#x394;&#x3a3; modulator is served as the on/off signal. The driving apparatus can further includes a random data generator for providing random luminance values for the individual pixels. In an image displaying operation, the output from the random data generator is directly supplied to the &#x394;&#x3a3; modulator in place of the output from the pixel read section, or otherwise added to the output from the pixel read section. This configuration provides an image with good quality and naturalness in the luminance by the driving at low speed.

Apparatus for driving light-emitting display

A display panel includes a number of light emitting elements arranged in a matrix fashion. A light emitting element driving circuit for use in the display panel can reduce fluctuations in brightness among the light emitting elements. A pulse supply circuit is formed so as to charge/discharge a capacitor based on a clock signal and drive the light emitting element based on the resulting discharge current. The amplitude of a drive current for each of the light emitting elements is not controlled by a transistor in a TFT circuitry, but controlled by external factors installed outside the display panel. The external factors may be a pulse supply circuit providing drive power source voltage and clock frequency. The external factors can be determined precisely.

An active type of light emission drive circuit includes a switching element which turns on in response to a scan pulse to allow a data signal to pass therethrough, a capacitive element for holding the data signal passed through the switching element during the ON state of the switching element, and a drive element for supplying a forward drive current to an organic EL element in accordance with the data signal held on the capacitive element to allow the organic EL element to emit light. The switching element is formed of a diode element that turns on by the potential difference between the scan pulse and the data signal when the scan pulse is supplied. A display device incorporating the drive circuit is disclosed.

Light-emission drive circuit for organic electroluminescence element and display device

A display panel driving device has a simple substrate structure. Amorphous silicon material or organic semiconductor material can be used for the substrate structure. A data code wiring group which is the base of row addresses of the display panel, and an address electrode line wiring group, intersect each other. The two wiring groups sandwich a compound layer of an insulating film and a semiconductor film. By providing disconnected portions at prescribed intersecting points on the address electrode lines, MOS type transistors are formed at the disconnected portions. A logic circuit is configured for row address decoding, in which MOS type transistors are connected in series to a single address electrode line.
