Each optical transmission device includes a detecting unit, a notifying unit, and a control unit. The detecting unit detects a value of the optical power of each of multiple wavelengths. The notifying unit notifies an optical transmission device at the upstream side of a control frame that includes the value and that includes information that indicates the execution state of the optical power control. The control unit calculates the adjustment level on the basis of the optical power of each of the wavelengths detected by the detecting unit. Furthermore, when the information included in the control frame sent from an optical transmission device at the downstream side indicates that the optical power control is being stopped, the control unit calculates the adjustment level on the basis of the value included in the control frame and executes optical power control by setting the calculated adjustment level to the optical device.

A WDM optical transmission system includes a plurality of optical transmission devices, each of which include a first memory that stores a first control program that controls a dispersion compensation amount in a host device; a processor to execute the first control program; a notification frame transmission circuit that transmits an information indicating a setting value of the dispersion compensation amount and a detection result corresponding to the setting value to another device; a third memory that stores a second control program that calculates a control value of the dispersion compensation amount in the another device; and a control frame transmission circuit that transmits the control value to the another device, wherein the processor executes the second control program when a problem occurs in the another device, and controls the dispersion compensation amount in the host device when a problem occurs in the host device.

WDM optical transmission system and wavelength dispersion compensation method

In an optical transmission device, firmware that operates within a CPU of a first LIU and firmware that operates within a CPU of a second LIU periodically measure a load status of a CPU via an OS, respectively. Switchover control of a master CPU is performed according to a load status of a CPU measured by the firmware of each LIU. For example, when a load status of the CPU of the second LIU is lower than that of the CPU of the first LIU, a master CPU that performs switchover control of a predetermined port is switched to a slave CPU in the first LIU, and a slave CPU related to the predetermined port is switched to a master CPU in the second LIU, thereby dynamically changing the setting.

Optical communication apparatus, control apparatus, and method for controlling optical output

An optical transmission apparatus includes redundant line cards each installed with hardware and a CPU. The hardware obtains failure information on redundant lines including a working line and a protection line, and the CPU determines switching control of the redundant lines based on the obtained failure information. Further, the hardware switches the redundant lines based on switching control determined by the CPU, so as to transmit an SDH/SONET optical signal. In the apparatus, from or to hardware installed in each of the redundant line cards, the failure information obtained by the hardware is communicated to hardware installed in a neighboring line card.

Optical transmission apparatus

An optical transmission apparatus includes redundant line cards each having a plurality of ports, a hardware unit and a CPU. The hardware unit obtains failure information on redundant lines for each port. The CPU determines switching control of the redundant lines based on the failure information. Then, the hardware unit switches the redundant lines based on the switching control determined by the CPU, so as to transmit an SDH/SONET optical signal in a ring network. The CPU of one of the line cards is set as a master CPU on the corresponding line card to control switching of the redundant lines. Further, the CPU of the other line card is set as a slave CPU.

A communication processing apparatus appends group information representing a group to received communication frames. Group information to be appended to the communication frames is changed on a predetermined cycle. The communication frames processed in each processing unit are counted separately for each of the group information appended, and the count value is collected in each processing unit. With a communication processing apparatus, such as a switch and a router, which has a plurality of processing units (device), performs processing by each of the processing units on the communication frames received from a receiving unit, and transmits the processed communication frames from a transmitting unit, it is possible to realize a communication processing apparatus and a totalizing system capable of accurately counting and collecting the communication frames while performing an operation when totalizing the number of communication frames processed in each of the processing units.

A frame forwarding apparatus comprises a receiving unit receiving a frame including a source address, a destination address and a VWAN identifier; a converting unit converting a VWAN identifier in the frame into one of degenerate VWAN identifiers that the number of adoptable values thereof is smaller than the number of VWAN identifiers; a storage unit containing at least one entry containing the source address in the frame, a degenerate VWAN identifier that a VWAN identifier in the frame is converted, and path information representing a path via which the frame is received; a retrieving unit retrieving, from said storage unit, an entry corresponding to the destination address in the frame and the degenerate VWAN identifier in the frame; a restoring unit restoring the degenerate VWAN identifier in the frame into the original VWAN identifier; and a transmitting unit transmitting the frame based on the path information in the entry retrieved.
