A moving die is held by a robot and made to approach a vehicle, and a positioning pin is inserted into a positioning hole of the vehicle. The moving die is brought into a floating state of being displaceable relative to the vehicle by reducing a force of the robot for maintaining an attitude thereof. In a state of holding the moving die by the robot, a surface of the moving die is brought into contact with the vehicle by an adsorbing mechanism including an adsorbing portion of an elastic member provided to the moving die. The moving die and the robot are cut to be separated.

Hemming working method and working apparatus

A movable dieincluding a first grooveand a second groovethat extend in a direction in which hemming is performed is moved by a robot, and is positioned and set with respect to a wheel arch portionin a vehicleon a production line. The movable dieis mounted, positioned and fixed with respect to the vehicleby a clamping mechanism. A guide rolleris rolled while the guide roller is engaged with the first groove, and a flangeis inclined by a conical surface of a tapered rollerof a hemming rollerthat moves in an interlocking manner with the guide roller. Next, the guide rolleris rolled while the guide roller is engaged with the second groove, and the flangeis bent by a cylindrical surface of a cylindrical rollerof the hemming roller. The movable dieis separated from the vehicleafter the hemming.

Hemming method and hemming apparatus

In an initial state of roller hemming processing, an erected flangebegins to be bent by a roller. At this time, a first plateand a receiving faceare brought into tightly contact with each other at a contact pointbetween the rollerand the erected flangeby strongly pinching by the rollerand an auxiliary roller. On the other hand, in portions other than the contact point, the receiving facetends to be separated from the first plateby reaction. Since slider blocksandare movable along railsandon a side of the receiving die, the receiving dierotates clockwise in the drawing about the contact point. A tight contact in the contact pointis guaranteed as the receiving dierotates about the contact point. As a result, the hemming processing with a good shape can be achieved without wrinkling, ruffling, or deformation.
