An operating device includes a dial that has a first engagement portion, a rotational body that is formed in an annular shape, and has a second engagement portion so as to be engaged with the first engagement portion of the dial. Rotation of the dial is transmitted to the rotational body through an engagement of the first and second engagement portions. The operating device also includes gear teeth that are provided on an inner circumferential portion of the rotational body, a gear that is meshed with the gear teeth and is rotated in an inner space of the rotational body, and a rotation response member that is directly coupled to a rotation shaft of the gear and varies in accordance with a rotation angle of the dial.

Operating device

A gear portion is provided on the inner peripheral surface of a dial, and a large diameter portion of a main driving gear is mated with the gear portion. A driven gear is mated with a small diameter portion of the main driving gear, and the state of an air conditioner is switched based on the moving operation of a cable through the gear portion, the main driving gear and the driven gear in the rotating operation of the dial. With this structure, it is not necessary to provide a rotary shaft as a member for transmitting an operating force to the central part or the dial. Consequently, it is possible to maintain a space in the central part of the dial. Thus, restrictions can be decreased in the case in which a knob is to be arranged.

The switch button and the hinge are integrally molded using a synthetic resin or an elastomer, or a synthetic resin and a synthetic rubber, respectively. Switch device and method of assembling switch device

Upon depression of a depression surface of an operating knob of a switch assembly, a depression working surface pushes down the head portion of a rubber contact, and a switching operation is performed. The operating knob is pushed up by the return elastic force of the rubber contact and returned to its original position. Then the upper face of the depression portion abuts against the correction member. As the correction member is positioned directly above the rubber contact, the moment generated by the return elastic force of the rubber contact is offset and the operating knob is straightened and maintained to be in a horizontal position. Therefore, the side surfaces of the head portion projecting from the operation hole of the switch case barely rub against the side edges of the operation hole in a depressed state owing to inclination of the operating knob.
