The operating point of the internal combustion engine () during the standby operation is further on a lower-output side than the operating point of the same during the charging of the battery (). The operating point of the internal combustion engine () during the standby operation is an operating point in which the collector pressure of the internal combustion engine () is equal to or higher than a predetermined collector pressure threshold. The operating point of the internal combustion engine () during the standby operation is within a lean combustion region.

A hybrid vehicle includes a canister that adsorbs evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank for an internal combustion engine. The hybrid vehicle can drive a drive wheel even when the internal combustion engine is stopped. When the internal combustion engine of the hybrid vehicle is stopped and a prescribed set of conditions is satisfied, the internal combustion engine is rotated by the generator.
