An optical module includes: a first lens and a second lens provided between a light emitter and a light receiver; and a base member on which the light emitter and the light receiver are placed, and each of the first lens and the second lens is fixed via an adhesive resin. A first bonding direction in which a first bonding surface of the first lens is bonded and fixed via an adhesive resin, and a second bonding direction in which a second bonding surface of the second lens is bonded and fixed via an adhesive resin are respectively perpendicular to an optical axis direction of light, and an orientation of the first bonding surface and an orientation of the second bonding surface make are different from each other.

Optical module

An optical multiplexer includes a polarizer, a receptacle, a rotator disposed between the polarizer and the receptacle to rotate polarization planes of a pair of linearly polarized light beams in a forward direction and a polarization plane of a light beam in an opposite direction by 45 degrees, the forward direction being from the polarizer toward the receptacle, the opposite direction being from the receptacle to the polarizer, and a birefringent prism disposed between the rotator and the receptacle to multiplex the pair of linearly polarized light beams in the forward direction and to split the light beam in the opposite direction into an ordinary ray and an extraordinary ray. The rotator and the birefringent prism are fixed to the receptacle.

Optical multiplexer

An optical transmission apparatus () includes an optical transmitter () including an optical modulator () and an observation optical modulator () that attenuate optical power of input continuous wave light by an electro-absorption effect and output the continuous wave light. The optical modulator () performs pulse amplitude modulation on the continuous wave light and outputs the optical signal. The apparatus also includes: a bias voltage generation unit () that generates a direct-current bias voltage and outputs the direct-current bias voltage to the optical modulator () and the observation optical modulator (); a modulation signal generation unit () that generates an electrical signal for pulse amplitude modulation and outputs the electrical signal to the optical modulator (); and a bias voltage control unit () that instructs the bias voltage generation unit () to adjust the direct-current bias voltage on the basis of an absorption amount of optical power in the optical modulator () and an absorption amount of optical power in the observation optical modulator ().

An optical circuit includes an input waveguide, an arrayed waveguide including a plurality of output waveguides, a coupler, an electrode capable of applying a voltage to each of the output waveguides of the arrayed waveguide, and a chip unit to which the input waveguide, the coupler, and a portion of the arrayed waveguide are fixed. The arrayed waveguide is divided into a phase shifter portion capable of generating a predetermined phase difference between adjacent ones of the output waveguides, a beam portion having a cantilever structure that is not fixed by the chip unit, and a waveguide portion between the phase shifter portion and the beam portion. The electrode is capable of applying positive and negative voltages to the beam portion of the arrayed waveguide such that positive and negative voltages are alternately applied to adjacent ones of the output waveguides.

An optical axis adjustment method for an integrated optical module includes: measuring output currents by changing a wavelength of a light beam incident on a package; detecting, with first and second light receiving elements, light beams resulted from demultiplexing the incident light beam with first and second filters; detecting center wavelengths of a first light beam and a second light beam based on a change in the output currents in response to a change in the wavelength of the incident light beam; comparing the center wavelengths of the first light beam and the second light beam with design transmission wavelengths of the first filter and the second filter, and defining respective differences as a first wavelength deviation and a second wavelength deviation; and adjusting a position of the optical demultiplexer to make a total sum of the first wavelength deviation and the second wavelength deviation small.

Optical axis adjustment method, manufacturing method, and optical axis adjustment device for integrated optical module

With the objective of reducing the coupling capacitance of a pattern crossing section in a simple structure thereby to produce a high-quality tomographic image based on a larger value of the coil, a magnetic resonance signal receiving coil includes a pair of first and second conductor patterns each having a partial conductor pattern set which branches into three partial conductor patterns at the pattern crossing section. Each confronting pair of the first and second partial conductor patterns cross each other by being insulated from each other at the pattern crossing section. The partial conductor patterns of the first and second conductor patterns have their one ends beyond the crossing section each connected together to other ends of the second and first conductor patterns by arcuate conductors. The conductor patterns have their open ends connected to the signal outlets by conductor bars.
