Disclosed is a flux-cored wire for gas shield arc welding comprising a mild steel sheath and a flux composition filled in the mild steel sheath, wherein the mild steel sheath is made of a mild steel containing, based on the total weight of the sheath, 0.02% or less of C, 0.01 to 0.20% of Ti, and 0.01 to 0.15% of Al, the contents of Ti and C satisfying a relation of (Ti/C.gtoreq.1.0) and the contents of Al and C satisfying a relation of (Al/C.gtoreq.1.5); and the flux composition contains, based on the weight of the total wire, 0.50 to 3.60% of Mn (including the Mn amount in the sheath), and 0.10 to 1.80% of Si (including the Si amount in the sheath).

Flux-cored wire for gas shield arc welding with low fume

There are disclosed flux cored wire electrodes for self-shielded arc welding which comprise a steel sheath filled with a powdery flux containing as essential components thereof the following components set forth in terms of weight percentage: BaF.sub.2 (25-70), alkali metal fluoride (1-30), compound oxide composed of the oxide of an alkaline earth metal selected from among Ca, Sr, and Ba and the oxide of a metal selected from among Fe, Mn, Ni, Co, Ti, Al and Zr (1-30), Al (3-12), Mg (2-10) and Mn (0.5-10).

Flux cored wire electrodes for self-shielded arc welding

A flux-cored wire electrode suitable for use in gas-shielded arc-welding, characterized in that the sum of the carbon content in the sheath made of soft steel and the carbon content in a lubricant adhered on the sheath is 0.045 wt. % or lower relative to the total weight of the sheath and a flux, which contains 20-50 wt. % of TiO.sub.2, 1-15 wt. % of SiO.sub.2, 2.5-10 wt. % of ZrO.sub.2, 0.1-5 wt. % of an arc-stabilizing agent, 10-45 wt. % of a deoxidizer and up to 50 wt. % of iron powder, all based on the total weight of the flux, is filled to an amount of 10-30 wt. % of the total weight of the wire electrode in the cavity surrounded by the sheath. The above flux-cored wire electrode features a low fume emission rate comparable with that of a solid wire electrode.

A coated electrode for arc welding, comprising a steel wire core having a flux coating therein, the flux consisting essentially of 6-24% of TiO.sub.2, 2-15% of MgO, 10-30% of SiO.sub.2, 5-15% of Mn, 1-6% of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 20-60% of iron powder, not more than 2.5% of iron oxide and 0.5-2.5% of an organic component and having a weight ratio of MgO/(TiO.sub.2 +Al.sub.2 O.sub.3) in the range of 0.15-0.7, and a binder for the flux.
