An inkjet recording device including a line engine including a plurality of recording heads that are aligned in a main scanning direction, in which an arbitrary one of the plurality of recording heads is replaceable. Each of the plurality of recording heads includes a head tank attached on the corresponding one of the plurality of recording heads. The head tank includes a supply port and a discharge port for ink. The head tanks that are adjacent to each other are connected by the respective discharge ports and the supply ports.

An inkjet image forming apparatus which is provided with a line engine in which one or more recording heads are aligned in a main scanning direction and which has replacably configured an arbitrary one of the recording heads is disclosed. An image forming system includes one or more image forming apparatuses and a management apparatus. The management apparatus includes: a software component retention part configured to retain one or more software components in a storage unit, the software components each being configured to generate output format data in a data format interpretable by a printer engine of a corresponding one or more of the image forming apparatuses from application data; a determination part configured to determine, based on the specified image forming apparatus, one of the software components to be used to generate the output format data corresponding to the specified image forming apparatus; and a transmission part configured to transmit the generated output format data to the specified image forming apparatus. The specified image forming apparatus includes an image forming part to form a predetermined image on an image forming medium based on the transmitted output format data.

Image forming system using a management apparatus to manage software components

An image scanner includes a single contact glass placed on a main body. The contact glass has a first range through which a first original document is passed to be scanned, and a second range over which a second original document is placed to be scanned. An image sensor scans the first original document at a fixed position in the first range, and the image sensor scans the second original document while the image sensor moves through the second range. An automatic document feeder is arranged on the first range of the contact glass to introduce the first original document through an introducing path to the fixed position and to eject the first original document through an ejecting path from the fixed position. The introducing path is formed from an introducing orifice to the fixed position, the introducing orifice being located at a side of the second range of the automatic document feeder. Further, an ejecting path is formed from the fixed position to an ejecting orifice.

There is provided an image scanner in which no shock is applied to a carrier moving an image sensor when the carrier is moved between an automatic document feeder and a contact glass on which an original document is placed. The image sensor is pressed against the contact glass by a spring. The rollers are separated from the contact glass by a separating member when the image sensor passes an area between the contact glass and the automatic document feeder.
