Crimp connector

An electric-wire holding structure includes a wire accommodating slot for linearly wiring a covered wire, and a pair of first wire clamping pieces and a pair of second wire claming pieces, each of which are disposed at the wire accommodating slot and are opposed each other with respect to the wire accommodating slot for holing the covered wire. A center line between the pair of first wire clamping pieces is offset in one direction from a center line between the pair of second wire clamping pieces. A shortest interval connecting an inner end corner of the first wire clamping piece and an inner end corner of the second wire clamping piece is set to be equal to an opposing interval between the pair of first wire clamping pieces and an opposing interval between the pair of second wire clamping pieces.

Connector

A connector in which the connecting terminal is prevented from shifting or playing, and the male and female terminals are positively engaged with each other. The connector comprises a plurality of elongated protrusions 20 formed on the walls of a terminal accommodating chamber 12 in such a manner that they extend in the direction of insertion of a female terminal 13. The female terminal includes a wire clamping section 18 comprising a conductor clamping portion 28 and a cover clamping portion 29. A locking protrusion 21 formed on the bottom of the cover clamping portion 29 is engaged with a locking groove 22 formed in the connector housing 11. Furthermore, the height of the cover clamping portion 29 is made substantially equal to the terminal accommodating chamber 12. Hence, both the position of the front end portion of the female terminal 13 and the position of the wire clamping section 18, which is the rear end portion of the terminal, are positively regulated. Therefore, even when a bending force or tensile force acts on the connected wire 19, the female terminal 13 will never be shifted or vibrated. Thus, with the connector of the invention, the female terminal 13 is positively engaged with the mating male terminal.

A waterproof connector having a housing including terminal accommodation chambers for accommodating metal terminals connected to ends of electric wires, a waterproof cap disposed at the rear end of the housing, through which the electric wires are drawn, and having electric-wire insertion openings through which the drawn electric wires are inserted in such a manner that the electric wires are in close contact with one another, and a waterproof-cap holder for holding the waterproof cap together with the housing to mount the waterproof cap on the rear end thereof and having electric-wire drawing openings through which the electric wires inserted through the electric-wire insertion openings are drawn, wherein the waterproof-cap holder has a water-discharge-space forming member for forming a space for discharging, to the outside of the waterproof connector, water introduced into a space between the waterproof-cap holder and the waterproof cap through the electric-wire drawing openings, the space being formed between the waterproof-cap holder and the waterproof cap by the water-discharge-space forming means.

Waterproof connector

A waterproof connector is provided of a type in which terminals are inserted by an after-fitting operation into a connector housing with a waterproof rubber plug fitted thereto, in which the rubber plug is prevented from shifting in position from the connector housing during the insertion of the terminals to thereby facilitate terminal insertion operation. A waterproof rubber plug (2) consists of an integral combination of a sealing rubber plate part (9) including a plurality of insertion holes to be in close contact with their respective terminals (A), and a shift-preventing resin plate (10) including windows (14) for arranging the insertion holes of the rubber plate part (9) therein by groups each comprising a given number of insertion holes. The resin plate (10) further includes engaging groove portions (16) which are engageable with securing projections (18) provided in a housing main body (1a). As a result, the waterproof rubber plug (2) can be positioned at and restricted to a given position within the housing main body (1a).

A contact portion structure of a female terminal (1) has a pair of opposing elastic plate portions (4), two pairs of flat plate-shaped contact portions (5) each pair extending from one of the opposing elastic plate portions (4) and bent at right angles at each end thereof, and contact projections (8) each formed on each inner surface of the flat plate-shaped contact portion (5) and brought into contact with a pin portion (7) of a mated male terminal (6). In particular, a diameter of the contact projections (8) is determined larger than a V-shaped groove (9) of the pin portion (7) of the mated male terminal (6). As a result, it is possible to prevent any contact projection (8) from entering the V-shaped junction groove (9) of the pin portion (7) of the male terminal (6), so that the two male and female terminals can be connected to each other stably without any eccentric contact. Further, since a pair of the elastic plate portions (4) are formed extending from one side of the square cylindrical portion (2), the female terminal can be formed at a high precision with a press machine.

A waterproof connector comprises: a connector housing (29, 89) formed with a plurality of terminal accommodation chambers (27, 93) for accommodating a plurality of terminal parts (53, 117), respectively and with a seal hood portion (39, 105); and a sealing member (25, 91) fitted to the seal hood portion of the housing and formed with a plurality of seal locating projections (47, 109) each having an insertion hole (45, 107) at a center thereof. A plurality of terminal parts (53, 117) connected to wires (51, 115), respectively are inserted into the terminal accommodation chambers of the housing, through the wire insertion holes of the sealing member fitted to the seal hood portion of the housing, respectively under watertight conditions. Owing to the presence of the seal locating projections (47, 109), the wire insertion holes of the sealing member are not dislocated away from the openings of the terminal accommodating chambers of the housing, when the terminal parts are inserted into the connector housing, thus improving the assembly productivity without increasing the number of parts.

A female terminal body consists of elastic contact pieces which are separated from each other in a peripheral direction by slits elongating in a longitudinal direction, a cylindrical base portion for fixing a sleeve, a conductor clamping portion to which a conductor of an electric wire W is to be fixed, and a wire cover clamping portion. The elastic contact pieces are disposed in a front part of the terminal body, the cylindrical base portion in a middle part, and the conductor clamping portion and the wire cover clamping portion in a rear part. The elastic contact pieces elongating from the cylindrical base portion constitute a cylinder having a diameter which gradually decreases as moving more distant from the cylindrical base portion, so that the male terminal is pressingly contacted to and clamped by their front ends. In order to facilitate the insertion of the male terminal, the front end portion of the cylinder has a diameter which gradually increases. The cylindrical base portion is formed into a rectangular cylindrical shape. A press fitting receiving portion is disposed at a predetermined position of each of edges of the cylindrical base portion.
