A first image data selective output section selects odd-numbered image data of the second raster scan line from a memory section to cause a first exposure section to form an electrostatic latent image on a photoconductor drum. At the same time, a second image data selective output section selects even-numbered image data of the first raster scan line from the memory section to cause a second exposure section to form an electrostatic latent image on the photoconductor drum. In the second main scanning operation, positions of light beams are moved by an amount of one raster line in a sub-scanning direction so that the first image data selective output section forms odd-numbered image data of the third raster line and at the same time, the second image data selective output section forms even-numbered image data of the second raster line.

Image generating apparatus

A multi-function image processing system smooth in operation and high in reliability having the functions of a fax and a printer is disclosed. An image is printed by a print engine, data are transmitted and received by a host interface and processed by a print data processing section which produces print data. The print data are transmitted to the print engine through a printer engine interface. The connection with the public line is controlled by a channel controller. On the other hand, an original is converted into image data by a reader, which image data are processed and print data produced by a fax controller. The print data are transmitted to the print engine by a fax engine interface. The transmission and receiving of the print data and the control data are arbitrated by an engine interface arbiter between the print engine interface and the fax engine interface on one hand and the print engine on the other hand.

Multi-function image processing system

An image processing apparatus for converting red, green, and blue luminance signals into cyan, magenta, and yellow density signals comprises: a first signal processing circuit for producing the cyan density signal from the red luminance signal; a second signal processing circuit for producing the magenta density signal from the green luminance signal and the cyan density signal; and a third signal processing circuit for producing the yellow density signal from the blue luminance signal, the cyan signal, and the magenta signal. Each of signal processing circuits comprises one or more look-up tables. The table of the second signal processing circuit may include the function of the first signal processing circuit and is supplied with red and green luminance signals. The third signal processing circuit has first and second tables. The first table responds to the cyan density signal and the blue luminance signal. The second table responds to the magenta density signal and the result of the first table. An image formation apparatus including the image signal processing apparatus mentioned above is disclosed also.

A printer used as an output unit for a personal computer or the like is characterized by having a memory unit including a first memory area for storing input data and a second memory area for storing image data obtained by developing the input data, the first memory area and the second memory area being arranged within one and the same memory space to form the memory unit, and by having an area control unit for changing a proportion of the capacity of the second memory area within the memory unit to alter the relative proportions of the first memory area and the second memory area in the memory space forming the memory unit. A print unit included in the printer fetches the image data from the second memory area and performs printing in accordance with the fetched image data.
