A resin binder for use in a toner for electrophotography, containing a polycondensation resin obtainable by polycondensing an alcohol component containing an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol having two or more secondary carbon atoms with a hydroxyl group bound thereto (an alcohol A), and a carboxylic acid component, wherein the alcohol A is contained in an amount of from 10 to 100% by mol, of the alcohol component; and a toner for electrophotography containing the resin binder. The toner for electrophotography of the present invention is suitably used in developing latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

Electrophotographic toner

A polyester for a toner, obtainable by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing a fumaric acid-modified rosin; and a toner containing the polyester for a toner. The polyester for a toner of the present invention is usable as a resin binder for a toner usable in, for example, developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

Polyester for toner

A polyester for a toner, obtainable by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing a (meth)acrylic acid-modified rosin; and a toner containing the polyester for a toner. The polyester for a toner of the present invention is usable as a resin binder for a toner usable in, for example, developing electrostatic latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

A polyester for a toner having a softening point of from 70&#xb0; to 110&#xb0; C. and a glass transition temperature of from 38&#xb0; to 60&#xb0; C., obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component containing a propylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A and an ethylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A in a total amount of 80% by mole or more, with a carboxylic acid component, wherein the propylene oxide adduct has an average number of moles of from 2.0 to 2.4, and the ethylene oxide adduct has an average number of moles of from 2.5 to 4.2. The polyester for a toner of the present invention is suitably used as a resin binder of a toner, or the like, used for, for example, developing a latent image formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method, or the like.

A toner containing a resin binder and a colorant, wherein the resin binder contains a polyester (A) having a softening point Tm(A) of from 100&#xb0; to 160&#xb0; C., and a polyester (B) having a softening point Tm(B) of from 80&#xb0; to 120&#xb0; C., the softening point of which is lower than that of the polyester (A) by 5&#xb0; C. or more, each polyester obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component, wherein the polyester (A) and/or (B) is a polyester obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component consisting essentially of an aliphatic alcohol, wherein the alcohol component contains a dihydric alcohol component containing 1,2-propanediol in an amount of 65% by mol or more, and a carboxylic acid component. The toner of the present invention is usable in the development or the like of a latent image formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method, or the like.

Toner

A toner for electrophotography, containing a resin binder containing a polyester-based resin (A) and a polyester-based resin (B) having a softening point of a temperature higher than the polyester-based resin (A) by 10&#xb0; C. or more, wherein at least one of the polyester-based resins (A) and (B) is a resin derived from a (meth)acrylic acid-modified rosin, having a polyester unit obtainable by polycondensing an alcohol component and a carboxylic acid component containing a (meth)acrylic acid-modified rosin, and a method for producing the toner. The toner for electrophotography of the present invention is usable in, for example, developing or the like latent images formed in electrophotography, electrostatic recording method, electrostatic printing method or the like.

Toner for electrophotography

A promoter for a polycondensation reaction used together with a catalyst in a polycondensation reaction, the promoter for a polycondensation reaction comprising a pyrogallol compound having a benzene ring of which three hydrogen atoms adjacent to each other are substituted by hydroxyl groups; and a polycondensation resin obtained by polycondensing raw material monomers using the promoter as defined above and the catalyst. A polycondensation resin can be produced using the promoter of the present invention together with a catalyst in a polycondensation reaction, and the polycondensation resin can be used in various applications including, for example, films, sheets, fibers, toner materials for electrophotography, and the like.
