A stator for a rotary electric machine includes: (a) a stator core; (b) a coil wound on the stator core; (c) a conductive member including: a main line portion that is electrically connected in a longitudinal end portion thereof with an external member; and first and second branch line portions that are branched from a branch portion located on a side of another longitudinal end portion of the main line portion, such that the first branch line portion is connected to the coil through a connection portion; and (d) a resin portion that seals at least a part of a coil end of the coil and at least a part of the second branch line portion.

A stator includes an annular stator core having slots formed therein, a stator coil received in the slots, and insulating sheets each being interposed, in a corresponding one of the slots, between the stator coil and an interior wall surface of the stator core defining the corresponding slot. A stator of a rotary electric machine comprises a stator core and a stator coil that is wound around the stator core. The stator coil includes a first segment coil, a second segment coil, and a first connecting member that has a first fitting recess portion at a first end of the first connecting member and a second fitting recess portion at a second end of the first connecting member, the first connecting member connecting the first segment coil and the second segment coil by fitting the first segment coil into the first fitting recess portion and by fitting the second segment coil into the second fitting recess portion.

The conducting wire end portion joining method includes: adjoining end portions of two winding wires, and bringing the end portions of the conducting wires of the two winding wires into contact with a conductive coating material stored in an insulating cap having a property of shrinking when heated; and shrinking the insulating cap by heating to fix the shrunken insulating cap around the insulation coatings of the end portions of the two winding wires, and joining together the end portions of the two winding wires by conductively connecting the conducting wires of the two winding wires via the hardened conductive coating material.
