A control part controls a clutch actuator. The control part has a first shift mode and a second shift mode. In the first shift mode, the clutch is switched to the disengaged state before changing of the gear position and the clutch is switched to the engaged state after changing of the gear position. In the second shift mode, an output of the prime mover is adjusted while the clutch is kept in the engaged state during the shift operation. Either the first shift mode or the second shift mode is selected on the basis of a detection result on whether the shift operation is a shift-up operation or a shift-down operation, and a traveling state of the vehicle.

A throttle opening control device for a vehicle having an engine with an electronically controlled throttle valve and an accelerator operated by a rider is provided. The throttle opening control device includes an accelerator opening acquisition module for acquiring an opening of the accelerator, an engine rotation speed acquisition module for acquiring a rotation speed of the engine, and a throttle opening control module for controlling an opening of the throttle valve based on the opening of the accelerator and the rotation speed of the engine. The throttle opening control module is configured to limit the opening of the throttle valve when the rotation speed of the engine is lower than a pre-determined idle rotation speed to prevent reverse rotation of the engine.

An engine control device includes an engine revolution speed information acquisition device for acquiring the revolution speed of an engine, an accelerator opening sensor for detecting the opening of an accelerator operated by a rider of a vehicle mounted with the engine, a throttle opening control unit configured to control an opening of a throttle of the engine on the basis of the opening of the accelerator and other information, and an ignition control unit configured to limit ignition at a crank position before a compression top dead center on the basis of the opening of the accelerator and the revolution speed of the engine.

A straddle-type vehicle includes an engine, an air intake pipe, a throttle valve being controlled in accordance with an operation amount of an accelerator grip, an engine rotating speed detector or a vehicle speed detector, and an electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU increases the opening degree of the throttle valve or maintains the opening degree at a constant value until the engine rotating speed reaches a set rotating speed which is smaller than a prescribed rotating speed, but if the engine rotating speed exceeds the set rotating speed, the ECU reduces the opening degree of the throttle valve irrespective of operation of the accelerator grip.
