A device for applying coiling-tension to a slit band sheet () includes: an upper structure () that is disposed on the upper side of a band sheet () which has been passed through a slitter line and slitted; and a lower structure () that is disposed on the lower side of the band sheet (). An expandable shaft comprises: a shaft body having a central axis and an outer cylindrical surface; a fluid passageway extending along the central axis of the shaft body; fluid introducing ports radially outwardly extending and communicating with the fluid passageway; a fluid filling to the fluid passageway and the fluid introducing ports; grooves extending on the outer cylindrical surface of the shaft body in a direction of the central axis of the shaft body, wherein each groove communicates with the respective introducing ports; and long lugs slidably inserted into the grooves, wherein the long lugs are elastically returned in the grooves when a fluid pressure by the fluid is eliminated, and the long lugs are protruded from the outer cylindrical surface when the fluid pressure is applied. Thus, the long lugs are able to stroke within the limits of the difference of the angle between the sloped bottom portion of the long lugs and the sloped locking surface of the grooves.

An annular fluid type pusher for tightening a part on a shaft comprises, a body mounted on the shaft, a pushing piece for pushing the part with a fluid pressure, a sealed fluid path formed annular in the body for sealingly containing a fluid and slidably holding said pushing piece in part, a fluid pressure adjusting section for adjusting the fluid pressure, an indicator cylinder chamber communicated with the sealed fluid path, an indicator piston slidably provided in the cylinder chamber, a spring to urge the piston against the fluid pressure, and a thrust indicating bar. Thrust graduation lines have been marked on the thrust indicating bar. And one end portion of the thrust indicating bar is connected to the piston, and the other end portion is provided in such a manner as to be protruded in association with the movement of the piston which is slidably moved in proportion of the fluid pressure.

A circular type tension applying apparatus for slit band plates comprises a plurality of pairs of upper and lower endless belts for interposing the respective slit band plate, an upper pressure applying member for allowing the upper endless belts to rotate and for applying pressure to the upper endless belts, and a lower pressure applying member for allowing the lower endless belts to rotate and for applying pressure to the lower endless belts. Each of the endless belts is able to rotate independently and circularly, and an outer surface of the endless belts being larger in friction than an inner surface of the endless belts. Both of the upper and lower pressure applying members are substantially circular in section. Furthermore, the endless belts have sufficient compressibility and restoration force in thickness direction so that tension is generated by resistance force from a deformation by compressive strain of the endless belts.
