A communication chamber defined in a body is supplied with a fluid under pressure through a pipe connected to a supply port defined in the body. The fluid under pressure is ejected from the communication chamber through fluid ejection members, which are made of a porous material and mounted on an end face of the body by a plate, toward a workpiece. The workpiece is levitated upwardly and held airborne by the fluid under pressure that is ejected toward the workpiece and the fluid under pressure that flows between the workpiece and the plate.

A linear actuator comprises a piston which is provided in an actuator body and which is displaceable under a pressure fluid, a slide table which is integrally connected to the piston and which is linearly displaceable, a rod which is engaged with the slide table and which has a shaft section inserted into an engagement hole of the piston, end blocks which are connected to ends of the actuator body, and stoppers which are provided on end surfaces of the end blocks and which adjust a displacement amount of the slide table.

Each of end blocks is provided with a first pressure fluid communicating passage for communication between a first pressure fluid inlet/outlet port and a third pressure fluid inlet/outlet port, a second pressure fluid inlet/outlet port, and a second pressure fluid communicating passage which communicates with a second pressure fluid passage and a first pressure fluid passage communicating with a driving section. A passage of a sensor attachment rail communicates with the third pressure fluid inlet/outlet port and the second pressure fluid passage or the second pressure fluid passage and the third pressure fluid inlet/outlet port by the aid of piping studs.

In a linear actuator in which a slide table on a pedestal is caused to reciprocate linearly by two air cylinder mechanisms mounted in the pedestal, exhaust holes are provided to positions adjacent to ports, flow rate restricting mechanisms for restricting a flow rate of exhaust are provided between the exhaust holes and the ports, and pieces of cushion packing for being positioned over one of through holes of the ports on an exhaust side immediately before the piston reaches a stroke end is provided to an outer peripheral face of the piston to cause compressed air in pressure chambers to be discharged from the exhaust hole through the flow rate restricting mechanism.

A linear actuator comprises a mobile which is provided substantially perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of a ball screw shaft with its first side portion connected to a screw guide member and with its second side portion slidably fitted to a slider, while movably holding a ball screw nut engaged with the ball screw shaft by the aid of the screw guide member which is finely movable in a recess of the slider allowed to ride over a guide rail in a bridging manner.

In a linear actuator in which a slide table on a pedestal is caused to reciprocate linearly by two air cylinder mechanisms mounted in the pedestal, exhaust holes are provided to positions adjacent at ports and, flow rate restricting mechanisms for restricting a flow rate of exhaust are provided between the exhaust holes and the ports, and pieces of cushion packing for being positioned over one of through holes of the ports on an exhaust side immediately before the piston reaches a stroke end are provided at an outer peripheral face of the piston to cause compressed air in pressure chambers of the actuator to be discharged from the exhaust hole through the flow rate restricting mechanism.

A linear actuator comprising a guide section formed along a longitudinal direction to protrude on a bottom surface of a slide table, a pair of guide blocks formed mutually opposingly and seperated from each other by a predetermined spacing distance on an upper surface of the main cylinder body, attachment holes for attaching the main cylinder body to another member in any direction of attachment from a side of the slide table or from a side of the main cylinder body, and an adjuster bolt for adjusting an amount of displacement of the slide table.

A linear actuator has an actuator body having a through hole defined axially therein and an opening defined in an upper surface thereof, a pair of end blocks, a slide table reciprocally movable in the directions indicated by the arrows X, Y, a pair of cylindrical members coupled to the end blocks, respectively, and having respective passages communicating with fluid outlet/inlet ports, respectively, defined in the actuator body, a joint member movable in unison with the slide table, a pair of cover members held in surface-to-surface contact with the joint member in confronting relation to each other and hermetically surrounding outer circumferential surfaces of the cylindrical members, for sliding displacement in unison with the slide table, and a pair of pressure chambers defined by the cylindrical members and the cover members and closed by the cover members, the pressure chambers communicating with passages in the cylindrical members.

An air cylinder has a cylinder body, a slide table movable along a guide rail on the cylinder body, a stopper block mounted on the cylinder body, a pair of adjustment bolts mounted on the slide table and spaced from each other with the stopper block interposed therebetween, and a cover disposed on and extending along a side edge of the slide table in covering relation to the stopper block and the adjustment bolts.

A tool fastening apparatus for industrial robots comprises a coupling unit attached to the arm of a robot and a coupling unit attached to a tool to be used with the robot. When the two coupling units are joined together, their relative position can be easily and accurately fixed by means of positioning couplings comprising ball rings carrying a set of annularly arranged balls slightly sticking out from the plane of contact between the two coupling units. Accurate positioning is achieved by bringing the balls on the two ball rings into engagement, which, in turn, is achieved by fitting each ball on one ball ring into between two adjoining balls on the other ball ring.
