Improvement of transmission efficiency is sought by stopping transmission of unnecessary MLI data. A transmitting circuitin a base station apparatushas an MLI modulation partcomposed of an MLI generating circuit, a symbol modulation circuit, and an IFFT circuit, a user data modulation partcomposed of an encoder circuit, a symbol modulation circuit, a transmission power control circuit, and an IFFT circuit, and a transmission operation control circuit. The transmission operation control circuitcontrols operation timing of the MLI modulation part, the user datamodulationpart, and a multiplexerbased on a signal to notify that ACK input from a receiving circuithas been received so that slots containing no MLI data are generated.

A flexible LCD () is a flexible display. The flexible LCD () is pulled out from an upper cabinet to change a display area of the flexible LCD (). An amount-of-sliding detecting section () measures the pullout amount (amount of sliding) of the flexible LCD () when the flexible LCD () is pulled out from a mobile terminal unit () or is retracted into the mobile terminal unit (). A display controller () causes the flexible LCD () to display in a manner responsive to the amount of sliding that is measured by the amount-of-sliding detecting section (). The foregoing makes it possible to utilize effectively the display having a display area that is revealed when the display is pulled out.

OFDM demodulation circuit and OFDM reception apparatus using the same

An OFDM receiver includes an offset compensator () compensating for a frequency offset in a received OFDM signal. The offset compensator () includes a memory () storing two reference signals corresponding to arbitrary portions in the start symbol of the OFDM signal. A cross correlation value between the received OFDM signal and each of the two reference signals is calculated by a cross correlator (). Each peak position is detected by a peak detector (). A frequency offset estimate value of the received OFDM signal is estimated by a frequency offset estimation circuit () based on the cross correlation value at each detected peak position. A phase rotation circuit () compensates for the frequency offset of the received OFDM signal based on the estimated frequency offset estimate value.
