Aluminum alloy diecast, diecast unit and method for producing same

A manufacturing method for joined bodies that allows galvanic corrosion to be reduced is provided. The method is for manufacturing a joined body obtained by joining together a mating member made of ferrous metal and a non-ferrous metal material. The method includes: a press fit step of press-fitting a joining element made of ferrous metal into a predetermined surface of the non-ferrous metal material; and a welding step of forming a melted portion between an exposed portion of the joining element press-fitted into the non-ferrous metal material and the mating member. After the press fit step, a part of the joining element is exposed from the predetermined surface and the remaining part of the joining element is not exposed and is buried in the non-ferrous metal material. The remaining part of the joining element includes a lodging portion having a surface facing to the predetermined surface.

A joining device for connecting a metal member and a resign member with a metal fastener including a penetrating tip comprises: a cylindrical nosepiece; a high frequency electromagnetic induction coil around the nosepiece; an electrode punch for pressing the fastener into the resign member; a electronic chopper for producing a high frequency current; a high frequency power supply for supplying an induction current to the induction coil; a welding power supply for supplying a welding current between the electrode punch and the metal member; a contact detector for sensing when the fastener tip touches the metal member; and a switching unit for automatically switching from the induction current to the welding current when the contact detector senses that the tip has contacted the metal member.

Joining device and joining method

An arc stud welding device and method are provided, in which a stud is pulled up to an appropriate predetermined height, even after a portion of a flexible base material is dented by the stud and has returned to an original flat condition. A controller operates a linear motor to disengage the stud from the base material, operates a power source to generate a pilot arc and a main arc, and reverses the operation of the linear motor to press the stud against the base material for welding. When the stud is pulled up from the base material, the controller detects the position of disengagement of the stud from the base material, and the linear motor pulls up the stud to a predetermined position.

Arc stud welding device and method

An apparatus comprises a die assembly including a plurality of dies held on a movable table, and a driving device for moving the die assembly. The driving device is operable to move the die assembly in a direction transverse to the axis of a punch for allowing one of the dies to be placed in a position located axially below the punch. The driving device is also operable to move the die assembly in the axial direction of the punch between raised and lowered positions. In the raised position, the die assembly can be moved by the driving device to place a selected die below the punch. In the lowered position, the selected die can be fixed in a die mounting hole located below the punch. In this position, the punch is operable to join workpieces by riveting, for example.

A self-piercing type rivet setting system comprises: a rivet swaging assembly ; a robot which moves the rivet swaging assembly to put it in position relative to a predetermined site on a workpiece to be riveted; a single integrated controller made up by an integration of a controller for controlling a riveting operation of the rivet swaging assembly and a controller for controlling the motion of the robot; and a rivet feeder for automatically feeding a self-piercing type rivet to the rivet swaging assembly. From the integrated controller , a interface cable extends to the robot and another interface cable extends to the rivet feeder , and the rivet swaging assembly is integrally incorporated into the robot

Self-piercing robotic rivet setting system

A rivet setting machine is provided that includes a movable die supporting member that operates to increase working space when inserting and removing workpieces during non-fastening operations. In a first position, the die supporting member positions a die in an opposed relationship to a punch. In a second position, the die supporting member positions the die at a position apart from the punch, which increases the distance between the die and the punch during non-fastening operations.

Rivet setting machine

According to the present invention, the inputs of the pilot power supply and the welding arc power supply are connected to a common terminal and there is provided the switching means to selectively switch the operations of the pilot power supply and the welding arc power supply with the switching means switching the power supplies to activate the pilot power supply when a pilot arc should be produced. Thus, the power supply system requires only one secondary winding in the transformer, and the single secondary winding is sufficient to make it possible to use a small and low-priced transformer. This results in reduction in the size as well as the cost of the power supply system. In addition, since the switching means can be composed of the rectifying thyristors connected to the A.C. input port and the relay contacts connected to the rear stage from the thyristor stage, so that the relay contacts select the operations of the pilot power supply and the welding arc power supply and, the thyristors determine the ON-OFF state of the electric current flowing to each of the power supplies. Thus, it is possible for the pilot power supply and the welding arc power supply to use the rectifying thyristors and the circuit concerned in common so as to simplify the circuit of the power supply and to reduce its price.

Stud welding apparatus

A welding apparatus comprising a hollowed tubular stud-receiving portion including an axially extending slit at the end thereof and a reduced inner diameter portion at the inner side of the end thereof; and an adapter opened to communicate with the stud-receiving portion for feeding a flanged stud having a shank and a flange formed at an end of the shank into the stud-receiving portion with the flange at the leading end. A collet is positioned to be axially slidable in the stud-receiving portion and provided with a bore at the end thereof to receive the stud shank in the bore, and at least the end portion of the collet is made of an electrically conductive material. Collet driving means is provided for driving the above collet to move the same between a retracted position in which the collet end is placed rearward of the opening of the adapter and a projecting position in which the collet end projects from the end of the stud-receiving portion to apply urging force to the stud. Magnetic field establishing means establishes a stud pulling magnetic field around the retracted collet to draw the stud from the stud-receiving portion into the bore of the collet.

Stud welding appartus

A stud which is automatically fed so as to welded stably and properly, has a large electric contact surface with the collet, facilitates clip attachment, and maintains the engagement firmly after the attachment of the clip. A stud 1 extends upwardly into a rod-like form which is threaded on its periphery, and includes a welding tip at the lower end thereof for welding to a base member such as a panel so as to be used in mounting a member to be attached on the base member. The stud 1 is formed to be short in overall length and its welding tip is formed as a flange 4 whose diameter is larger than that of the rod-like body. A crest 6 of the screw 3 is formed flat. An upper flank angle 8 of the screw is formed large while a lower flank angle 10 of it is formed small. An edge 12 of an upper end 11 of the stud is chamfered.

Monitoring stud-welding-phototransistor responds to arc light

The present invention provides a capacitor charging circuit for a discharge type welding tool. The circuit includes a rectifier for producing rectified pulsating currents, a capacitor to be charged, a thyristor between the rectifier and the capacitor. A pulse generator receives the pulsating currents and in turn produces a pulse at each hill of the pulsating current. The thus produced pulse is applied to the gate of the thyristor which turns the thyristor on. A charge potential detecting circuit directly measures the charge potential across the charged capacitor and transfers a signal change, according to the level of the capacitor potential, to the pulse generator so as to thereby control the timing of the pulse generation at each hill of the pulsating current.
