A body movement detection device is provided with a main body, a display unit, and a control unit, the control unit including an ascent/descent method detection unit that detects whether a user who is wearing or carrying the main body is ascending/descending using a lift device, a counting unit that counts the number of times that the user ascends/descends using the lift device and the number of times that the user ascends/descends without using the lift device, based on the detection result of the ascent/descent method detection unit, and a display control unit that causes the display unit to display each of the values counted by the counting unit. The method by which the user ascends/descends can thereby be clearly displayed.

Body movement detection device

An exercise detection apparatus determines body movements based on data detected by a detection unit, judges movement states for each body movement based on data detected by the detection unit, corrects the movement states based on a predetermined rule, calculates an exercise state of a user based on a result of the judgment, and stores the calculated exercise state in a storage unit. A body fat measuring device includes at least one pair of first electrodes to be disposed respectively at a first site and a second site sandwiching the abdomen of a subject, and an electrode group including a first abdomen electrode to be disposed at a surface of the abdomen of the subject. A body motion discriminating apparatus includes an acceleration sensor for detecting a body motion of a user, a storing unit for storing a threshold, a threshold changing unit for changing the threshold based on physical data expressing a physical feature of the user and registering the changed threshold in the storing unit, and a discriminating unit for discriminating whether a detected body motion is walking or running by comparing a value of a parameter calculated from amplitude and cycle of an output signal of the acceleration sensor with the threshold.

Body motion discriminating apparatus and activity monitor

There are provided a hold portion that can be held in a hand of a subject, a cable having one end connected to the hold portion, and a rest portion on which a foot of the subject can be rested. The rest portion includes a reel portion connected to the other end of the cable for winding the cable, a first detection unit for detecting a draw-out extent to which the cable is drawn out from the reel portion, and a second detection unit for detecting an angle formed by the rest portion and the cable. Based on the detected draw-out extent and angle, the part length of a body part of the subject is calculated.

An activity meter includes a sensor for detecting acceleration in a plurality of directions, representative acceleration calculation means for calculating a representative acceleration based on an output signal of the sensor, and exercise intensity calculation means for calculating an exercise intensity of a body motion performed in the unit period from the representative acceleration. The exercise intensity calculation means includes a plurality of calculation formulas to use in the calculation of the exercise intensity, and determines the calculation formula to use in the calculation of the exercise intensity of the body motion performed in the unit period based on a horizontal component and a vertical component of the representative acceleration. The activity amount on various types of body activities from daily activity to exercise thus can be accurately measured.

In a body fat measuring apparatus, a constant electric-current is flowed between hand electric-current electrodes and leg electric-current electrodes. From two detected voltages generated between an annular-shaped voltage electrode placed on an abdominal portion and two voltage electrodes placed at the both sides of a lumbar portion, two abdominal impedances are determined. Two electric-current electrodes and two voltage electrodes are placed such that they are spaced apart by a small interval from one another at an umbilicus portion. A constant electric current is flowed between the two electric-current electrodes and the impedance in the vicinity of the subcutaneous of the abdominal portion is determined from the detected voltage generated between the two voltage electrodes. From the two abdominal impedances, the impedance in the vicinity of the subcutaneous of the abdominal portion, and the input physique information, a viscera impedance is calculated.

Body fat measuring apparatus capable of measuring visceral fat with high accuracy

In the fat burning value calculating apparatus (), an electrocardiographic signal is detected (-) at the start of exercise, and a heart rate is calculated from the detected value. Further, a power of heart rate variability is calculated, and an AT level is determined from the variability power. Once the AT level is determined, a preset exercise program is executed. A work load during the exercise is detected, and consumed calories are calculated. Thereafter, the electrocardiographic signal during the exercise is detected, the heart rate is calculated from the detected signal, and a fat burning rate during the exercise is calculated. A fat burning amount is calculated from the consumed calories and the fat burning rate, their accumulated values are also calculated, and these values are displayed. As a result, it is possible to provide a fat burning value calculating method and a fat burning value calculating apparatus () which ensure accurate calculation of the fat burning rate and the fat burning amount of an individual during exercise, regardless of increase/decrease of exercise intensity.
