A lighting device includes a light source, a light guide plate, a chassis, a reflection sheet, and a supplementary member. The light guide plate is configured to guide light from the light source. The chassis includes a bottom for housing the light guide plate and recesses in the bottom. The reflection sheet is disposed between the light guide plate and the bottom and configured to reflect light toward the light guide plate. The supplementary member includes a body having a plate shape and is disposed between the reflection sheet and the bottom. The body includes a plate surface on a reflection sheet side including a flat surface.

Lighting device and display device

A display device includes a display component, a light source, and a light guide component. The display component includes a display area and a non-display area. The light guide component includes a first light guide plate disposed behind the display area, a second light guide plate disposed adjacent to the light source and lateral to the first light guide plate, and a joint member disposed behind the non-display area. The first light guide plate includes a plate surface with an area larger than the display area. The plate surface includes a light exiting surface. The second light guide plate includes a light entering surface. The joint member joins the first light guide plate and the second light guide plate together. A space is present between the first light guide plate and the second light guide plate and surrounded by the joint member.

Display device

A small-size and light-weight backlight system and a planar display device has a structure such that luminance unevenness and chromaticity unevenness in the vicinity of the incident light portion of a light guide plate are not noticeable. The back light system includes a light guide plate arranged to guide the light from a light source and emit the light in a planar direction. The light source includes a linear light source body arranged in the vicinity of the side edge of the light guide plate. The linear light source body includes a linear body in which a plurality of light emitting elements are embedded in the longitudinal direction. A light direction change sheet is arranged on the light emission surface of the light guide plate. The light direction change sheet has a plurality of protruding stripes arranged substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the linear light source body formed on the surface opposing to the light guide plate.
