A recording device includes a medium placement unit on which a medium is fixedly placed, a recording head configured to discharge liquid toward the medium, a gantry including a discharging unit, the gantry being configured to move relative to the medium placement unit along a first axial direction, a heater provided at the medium placement unit, the heater being configured to heat the medium placed on the medium placement unit, and a control unit configured to control the heater. The control unit controls heating of the medium by the heater in accordance with a condition.

A medium loading device includes a support unit having shaft members mounted on both end portions of a roll paper and flange member and a loading portion where the roll paper with the support unit is loaded. The loading portion includes a rotary driving portion as a driving source to rotate the roll paper, a rotation shaft to transmit torque of the rotary driving portion to the roll paper via the shaft member, and an operation portion that moves the rotation shaft between a transmission position to transmit the torque to the roll paper and a non-transmission position not to transmit the torque to the roll paper. In an axial direction of the roll paper when the roll paper is loaded into the loading portion, the operation portion is disposed between the position where the shaft member is located when the roll paper is loaded and the rotary driving portion.

A fixed material transportation surface of the fixed material transportation apparatus is formed inclining so as to become higher toward a downstream side from an upstream side of transportation direction of the fixed material, and is transported while sucking the fixed material supplied on the fixed material transportation surface. Thus, since the cockling is drawn when the fixed material is transported while being raised to transportation direction on the fixed material transportation surface even if cockling extending to transportation direction generates on the fixed material after fixing, growth of the cockling can be prevented.

On a medium transporting surface, a dimple extending continuously from a transportation upstream end of a medium to a transportation downstream end are formed. Hereby, a leading end of the medium, after pulled into the dimples once, is transported in the pulled state. Therefore, it is prevented that the leading end of the medium is curled up by a conventional partition wall provided in the direction perpendicular to the medium transporting direction, so that it is possible to prevent a stain on the medium caused by contact with a recording head.
