A driving power transfer apparatus for four-wheel drive automotive vehicles, has a primary output shaft for providing driving power for a rear propeller shaft and a secondary hollow output shaft for providing driving power for a front propeller shaft, and a drive power transfer, such as a fluid coupling, mounted on the secondary output shaft, for variably transmitting the driving power to the secondary output shaft from the primary output shaft. The secondary shaft is connected to a front propeller shaft via a splined sliding yoke.

Power transfer apparatus for four-wheel drive automotive vehicle

An internal combustion engine is provided in its exhaust system with a particulate filter for trapping combustible particulates contained in exhaust gas. A combustion promoting material injection device is provided for injecting a material for promoting combustion of the combustible particulates into the exhaust system upstream of the particulate filter. Further there are provided a bypass exhaust passage which bypasses the combustion promoting material injection device and the particulate filter, and a flow control valve which controls the amount of exhaust gas flowing through the bypass exhaust passage to control the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the particulate filter when said combustion promoting material is to be injected from the injecting device. When the combustion promoting material is injected, the flow control valve controls the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the particulate filter so that the combustion promoting material can uniformly adhere to the surface of the combustible particulates over the entire area thereof and so that the combustion temperature of the combustible particulates is prevented from rising abnormally high.

Exhaust gas cleaning system for vehicle

An exhaust cleaner system for a diesel engine comprising a cleaner having a filter and also having upstream and downstream compartments on respective sides of the filter, carbon particulates in the exhaust gases from the engine being trapped in the filter as the exhaust gases flow through the cleaner, a burner for producing a high temperature combustion gas necessary to elevate the temperature of the exhaust gases, an air supply device for supplying air to the burner, a fuel supply device for supplying fuel to the burner, and an air pressure regulator for increasing the air supply pressure in correspondence with the increase of the exhaust gas pressure upstream of the filter.

Cleaner control for diesel engine exhaust gases

An internal combustion engine is provided with an exhaust gas recirculating passage for communicating the intake passage and the exhaust passage thereof. The recirculating passage is provided with a valve for controlling the amount of recirculated exhaust gas. A fundamental air-fuel ratio control value for regulating the air-fuel ratio of the intake gas to a predetermined value is corrected by an operating condition correction value according to the operating condition of the engine. The operating condition correction value is successively changed to an optimal value by comparing the actually obtained air-fuel ratio with a predetermined value. The operating condition correction value for correcting the fundamental air-fuel ratio control value when the exhaust gas recirculation is carried out is changed independently from the same for correcting the fundamental air-fuel ratio correction value when the exhaust gas recirculation is not carried out. The initial values of the former correction value and the latter correction value are compared with each other, while the present values of the former correction value and the latter correction value are compared with each other. The comparison value of the initial values and the comparison value of the present values are compared with each other to detect clogging of the recirculating passage. When clogging is detected, the valve is controlled to compensate for the clogging.

Exhaust gas recirculation system for internal combustion engine

Rotary piston engine having a substantially polygonal rotor provided at each apex portion with an apex seal and corner seals. The corner seal is so arranged that it is forced under the gas pressure introduced in a space behind it toward the side housing. A filler member comprised of a non-rigid material such as a heat resistant rubber or a suitable composite material is provided in a clearance between the corner seal and an adjacent end of the apex seal so as to prevent gas leakage through the clearance.
