Process for producing (meth)acrylate derivatives

A contact lens contains a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing, as an indispensable feed monomer, 2 to 95 wt. % of a carboxylic acid ester monomer and 98 to 5 wt. % of a copolymerizable monomer. The carboxylic acid ester monomer is represented by the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 stands for a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cyclic alkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group, and X stands for ##STR2## in which R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each stand for a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cyclic alkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group, m and 1 being integers of from 0 to 4, at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 being a group containing a fluorine atom and n being an integer of from 0 to 4.

The present invention provides a polymer complex of a sugar response type having boronic acid groups in the polymer. Medicines may be contained or linked, preferably, the medicines have hydroxy groups. The polymer having boronic acid groups and the medicine having hydroxy groups may be linked by boronic acid ester bonds. The complex may also comprises polymers having boronic acid groups and polymers having hydroxy groups, and these polymers may be cross-linked.

An ultrathin polymeric membrane has a membrane thickness of 10 to 1,000 .ANG.. The membrane is constituted of polycarboxylate and obtained by the spin coating method or by the Langmuir-Blodgett method. The polycarboxylate contains recurrent units represented by the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represent different groups and each stands for a methyl group or a hydrogen atom, and R represents a hydrocarbon group selected from the group consisting of a branched alkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms, a substituted alkyl group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, a substituted cycloalkyl group having 3 to 10 carbon atoms and a siloxanic hydrocarbon group.

The present invention provides a polymer-combined drug having directional characteristics to digestive organs, wherein it comprises a medicine combined with a polymer which has an alkyleneoxy group as a repeating unit. The polymer-combined drug is produced by reacting a polyoxyalkylene glycol having one or more terminal functional groups and a medicine, if necessary in a solvent, and if necessary in the presence of a catalyst. It is able to administer the drug orally or by intravenous injection so as to maintain the concentration in blood stably for a long time, and to absorb or take in digestive organs such as the stomach and intestines directly.

Polymer-drug conjugate and a method of producing it

A transparent optical article is constituted of an optical resin. The optical resin in obtained by polymerizing a feed monomer containing at least a diester of unsaturated dicarboxylic acid selected from the group consisting of itaconic acid, citraconic acid and mesaconic acid. The ester group forming the diester is ##STR1## or R, wherein X represents a halogen atom, m represents zero or an integer of 1 to 5 and R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms. At least one of the ester groups has an aromatic ring defined above.

A contact lens article comprises a resin obtained by copolymerizing starting monomer components containing a silicon-containing compound (A) represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 each represent a methyl group or ##STR2## l represents 0 or 1, m represents an integer of 1 to 3 and n and p each represent an integer of 0 to 3; a fluorine-containing compound (B) represented by the formula (II) of: ##STR3## wherein at least one of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represents a straight chain or branched chain fluoroalkyl group represented by --C.sub.h H.sub.k F.sub.2h+l-k in which h represents an integer of 2 to 18, k represents an integer of 1 to 2 multiplied by h and when one of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is --C.sub.h H.sub.k F.sub.2h+l-k, the other of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2 to 12 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms; and a radical polymerizable vinyl monomer.

Contact lens article made of silicon- and fluorine-containing resin

A Synthetic resin lens having a surface hard coating comprises a synthetic resin lens body and a surface hard coat deposited on the lens body. The synthetic resin lens body is made of a resin obtained by copolymerizing monomers consisting essentially as synthetic resinous components of 10 to 80 percent by weight of at least one diester of itaconic acid and mesaconic acid, 10 to 80 percent by weight of at least one allyl compound and 5 to 50 percent by weight of diethyleneglycol bis(allylcarbonate). The surface hard coat is formed by curing a coating composition comprising 50 to 800 parts by weight of at least one organic silicon compound, 100 parts by weight of colloidal silica, 50 to 600 parts by weight of a polyfunctional compound such as a polyfunctional epoxy compound, a polyalcohol, a polycarboxylic acid, or a polycarboxylic anhydride and 0.01 to 5.0 percent by weight of a curing catalyst based on the residual solids in the composition after curing.

Synthetic resin lens

A Langmuir-Blodgett ultrathin membrane is constituted of polyfumarate having a degree of polymerization of 20 to 10,000. The polyfumarate is obtained by polymerizing fumarate represented by the general formula of: ##STR1## wherein at least one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represents a bulky hydrocarbon group such as a branched alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group or a substituent thereof, a fluorine-substituted hydrocarbon group, a hetero atom-containing hydrocarbon group or a silicon-containing group.

Langmuir Blodgett ultrathin membrane of polyfumarate

According to the invention, there are provided an optical resin and a process for preparing such a resin. The optical resin is obtained by polymerizing a feed monomer comprising at least a diester of dicarboxylic acid represented by the general formula (1) of: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represent the same or different groups and stand for an alkyl or alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms or an ester residue having at least one aromatic ring.

Optical resin from diallyl esters

According to the invention, a method for modifying a polyfumaric acid diester is provided. The method comprises subjecting the polyfumaric acid diester to thermal treatment to thereby obtain a polyfumarate having carboxyl groups. The polyfumaric acid diester is obtained by polymerizing a fumaric acid diester represented by the following general formula of: ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 12 carbon atoms or an organic residue having at least one aromatic ring.
