An image display device includes: a light source; a screen on which an image is formed when light from the light source is applied thereto; an optical system configured to generate a virtual image by light from the screen; an actuator configured to move the screen in an optical axis direction; a position detector configured to detect a movement position of the screen; a servo circuit configured to cause the movement of the screen by the actuator to follow a target waveform on the basis of a signal from the position detector; and a correction circuit configured to reduce a deviation between a timing to move the screen by the servo circuit and a timing to form the image on the screen.

An image display device includes a light source that emits a light beam, a screen, a scanning section that scans the screen with the light beam, an optical system, a drive section, and a screen drive circuit. The optical system generates a virtual image by using the light beam that has passed through the screen. The drive section moves the screen at least in parallel to a travel direction of the light beam. The screen drive circuit contains a drive signal table that stores an information group for use in generating a drive signal tailored to stop the screen at different stop locations over different stop periods. The optical disk apparatus comprises a selector to switch over the control systems, and area dividing means to manage the divided areas, and while switching over CAV control and CLV control, records data, and varies the divided areas or the number of divided areas in CAV control according to recording capacities, so that lower power consumption and higher-speed access can be realized.

Optical disk recording method employing a plurality of recording areas and apparatus therefor

The invention provides an optical disk device that has a laser unit including a first objective lens and a second objective lens. A numerical aperture of the first objective lens is different from a numerical aperture of the second objective lens. The optical disk device has a first focus driver that detects a first voltage value indicating the value of a driving voltage to drive the first objective lens when light beams are irradiated onto the surface of an optical disk via the first objective lens and a focus is achieved. The optical disk device has a second focus driver that detects a second voltage value indicating the value of a driving voltage to drive the second objective lens when light beams are irradiated onto the recording surface of said optical disk via the second objective lens and a focus is achieved. The optical disk device has a controller that discriminates the type of an optical disk, based on a difference between the first voltage value and the second voltage value.

Optical disk discrimination method and optical disk device

In the operation to access data on a disk, the data reading operation is enabled before the rotary speed of the spindle motor of the disk is completely regulated to thereby minimize the access time and power consumption of the spindle motor for acceleration or deceleration thereof. When the actuator is in the access operation, the motor is compulsorily driven. From a time when the actuator reaches a target track in the access operation to a time when the rotary speed of the motor becomes equal to a predetermined rotary speed, the frequency control signal is created according to the position of the actuator and the rotary speed of the spindle motor. After the data reading operation is commenced, to fixedly set the data transfer rate to a predetermined value, the variable reference clock signal is stepwise corrected to be equal to the fixed master clock signal in a frequency range calculated according to the motor rotating speed and the capture range. Therefore, the synchronization can be established in a frequency range remarkably exceeding the capture range of the phase-locked loop circuit, which makes it possible to dispense with the wait time conventionally required in the access operation before the motor rotating speed reaches a fixed linear speed for data reproduction.
