The present invention provides a compact developing apparatus, wherein there is provided a developer container having first magnetic brush carrier for developing the image information at one side thereof and a developing replenishing container at other side thereof, the developing container and the developing replenishing container are so constructed to be one body. The partition wall is located between the both containers and has a opening portion to communicate the both containers. Second magnetic brush carrier is provided at the opening portion to replenish the developer from the developer replenishing container to the developer container. The second magnetic brush carrier can be operated automatically in accordance with the concentration of the developer.

Developing apparatus

A cleaning device for separating residual magnetic toner on an image carrier from the image carrier and for magnetically absorbing the separated magnetic toner by a rotary magnet member and transferring on a guide member on the surface of which a shifting field is induced by the rotary magnet member and which covers the surface of the magnet member from the part approaching the image carrier to the part on the opposite side where the magnetic toner drops down by its own gravity and removing it away. A vibration imparting device is provided for vibrating the guide member.

Cleaning device

A cleaning system for an electrostatic copying apparatus has a cleaning roller in pressure contact with a toner supporting member for removing residual toner therefrom. The cleaning roller is impressed with a bias voltage of polarity opposite to the electric charge held by the residual toner. The cleaning roller comprises an axle, a conductive elastic layer around the axle, and a thin porous film formed as an outer most layer over the elastic layer. The thin film is preferably made of polytetrafluorethylene and is a porous and soft film. The cleaning system also includes a discharging electrode arranged before the cleaning roller, and a scraper for removing toner adhering to the cleaning roller.

Electrostatic copying apparatus

A magnetic brush cleaning device in which a magnetic attraction roller having a surface for attracting magnetic powder is disposed so as to face the surface of a toner image retaining member through a gap D, the height of a brushlike ear of the magnetic powder attracted to the magnetic attraction roller is restricted by ear restriction element faced to the surface of the magnetic attraction roller through a gap H and the brushlike ear of the magnetic powder thus restricted slides frictionally on the surface of the toner image retaining member so as to remove the toner on the surface of the image retaining member. The gap D and the gap H satisfy the following relation:

Magnetic brush cleaning device

A cleaning apparatus for a toner image retaining member of an electrophotographic copying machine includes an elastic cleaning blade for removing residual toner from the surface of the toner image retaining member, the elastic cleaning blade having two opposite ends, one end having a protuberance with a cleaning edge. A holder is arranged along a given axis for supporting the opposite end of the elastic cleaning blade and for disposing the cleaning edge in resilient contact against the surface of the toner image retaining member. The cleaning edge of the elastic cleaning blade is formed by a ridge line of the protuberance which is kept in resilient contact against the surface of the toner image retaining member by the holder. The angle of intersection .phi. at the side of the toner image retaining member prior to contact with the cleaning blade, subtended by the axis of the holder and a tangent line at the contact point of the cleaning edge with the surface of the toner image retaining member satisfies the following relation:

Cleaning apparatus for electrophotography

A device for guiding a recording paper, which comprises a guide member pivoted to a fixed portion of the device to guide the recording paper to a transfer position, the guide member being urged to rotate in one direction. A reference surface for determining the position of end portion of the guide member in the direction of being fed the paper is formed in the fixed portion of the device. The reference surface has a radius of curvature which is slightly greater than the outer diameter of a photosensitive drum and a center of curvature which is in agreement with the center of said photosensitive drum.

Device for guiding a recording paper

A magnetic-brush developing device wherein a rotary sleeve with permanent magnet incorporated therein is positioned inside a housing containing a developer, wherein the thickness of ears of developer formed on the peripheral surface of the rotary sleeve is regulated by a doctor blade, and wherein a rotor which forcibly removes surplus developer scraped off by the doctor blade is provided just in front of the doctor blade. The doctor blade regulating the thickness of ears of developer formed on the peripheral surface of the rotary sleeve with the permanent magnets incorporated therein is formed in the shape of a knife edge directed in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the rotary sleeve.

Magnetic-brush developing device

A recording apparatus includes a toner retaining member such as a photosensitive drum, a toner collector, a cleaning device for cleaning toner off of the toner retaining member, and a toner guide member for guiding toner away from the toner retaining member. The guide member has a plurality of spaced apart front contact end portions in contact with the toner retaining member for guiding toner which is cleaned from the toner retaining member to the toner collector, at least the front contact end portions of the toner guide member which are in contact with the toner retaining member being in a comb-teeth shape. Preferably, at least the front contact end portions of the toner guide member are fibers.

Cleaning apparatus for recording apparatus

An image-forming method using a developer comprising as the main component ferromagnetic and insulating toner particles. Said method comprises the steps of holding said developer on a delivery member by a magnetic force, causing the developer to tuft at the developing position and to fall in contact with an electrostatic latent image-supporting member, developing the electrostatic latent image and forming a toner image by the toner particles charged predominantly by mutual friction of the toner particles, and transferring the toner image onto a plain paper superposed on the electrostatic latent image-supporting member by electrostatic transfer means. Said developer has a specific resistance of at least 10.sup.14 .OMEGA.-cm and the potential decay ratio of the developed developer is lower than 50% as measured according to the method defined in the specification.

Electrostatic image developing and transfer method uses single component

A magnetic brush type developing device for a single component developer having an axially elongated sleeve and a plurality of magnets disposed in the sleeve for relative rotation therebetween includes a regulating plate extending axially along and substantially adjacent the sleeve surface for regulating the height of developer adhering thereto, and a pair of partition plates arranged substantially perpendicular to the sleeve axis at axially opposite ends thereof and predeterminately adjacent circumferentially-disposed surface portions of the sleeve for preventing an axial flow of developer along the sleeve outwardly beyond the partition plates.

Developing device for an electrophotographic copying machine

A magnetic brush developing apparatus for use in an electrostatic recording machine has a peripheral surface rotatable for carrying a single-component developer through magnetic field zones of adjacently alternating polarities including feed-in and feedback zones on opposite sides of a developing zone. The relative strengths of the fields are arranged so that the magnetic field density concentration point is offset from the developing zone so as to prevent image degradation by accumulation of excess developer at the developing zone.
